Bulking and over-eating?

I have a high metabolism, and am currently bulking, with pretty good results so far. I reckon I'm consuming at least 3000 calories a day - most of which is protein. But according to the nutritional calculator at http://www.ast-ss.com, I should, based on my stats (150lbs, ectomorph etc.), be consuming just 2250. Lowering my intake to this degree seems like a bit of a leap of faith to me. Would this really yield greater results? Is less more?

Hi, I think 2250 is way too low if you're bulking up. That would probably be more like your maintenance level. I would say 3000 cals is the minimum you should be eating if you're an ectomorph. I've never been super thin and I still need 4000+ a day to bulk up. Just my opinion.

When I am bulking I bet I sometimes hit the 5000-6000 calorie a day level....that 2250 is for someone that is sedentary and does not exercise...You maintenance intake is more than that by a lot as long as you are active and working out...I'm in a cut phase right now and I am getting about 2200-2400 calories a day to start....lowest I'll go is 1800....so keep on eating....
