Calorie Dense foods


could somebody list some calorie dense foods? im having difficulty finding high calorie/low fat foods everything i find is either high calorie high fat or low calorie low fat, any help would be appreciated thanks

That is the trouble you won't find a high calorie/low fat foods very often. Try increasing your good fat intake [mono- and polyunsaturated]. Olive oil, canola oil, avocados, olives, flax seed or oil, nuts and cold water fish.

Well you are right as it is an uphill task at times to get the foods which are higher on calories. There seem to be a revolution around about the low calorie foods thanks to the global rise of the obesity problem. Now eventually people are becoming calorie conscious and the foods that can be availed in the departmental stores are low calorie ones max. But there are also people like me who want to bulk up, so spare a thought for us too!

Simple sugars are relatively high calorie and are low/no fat. Use them strategically to fuel workouts and or replace glycogen stores.

There are lots of posts by people more knowledgeable than I am about the timing of them.

yeah i know what u mean, mostly all the foods i find are low calorie in grocery stores and such

Yeah rightly said, there has been so many things said about the obesity that people despite their needs are going for the low calorie foods, but there are people who also require high calorie foods as they need to bulk up. But it seems that everyone is interested in procuring low calorie foods from the stores and if this goes on then we wont find foods high on calories after a certain period of time.

I'm interested in seeing where this thread goes...this summer I will be working 10-12 hour shifts and during my lunch break I will need extremely high calorie foods. I will most likely only be able to eat early morning, lunch, and late at night. Besides a 100g protein shake, I wouldn't know what real food to pack.

why is it that you are looking for high calorie low fat foods? i dont get it, why dont you just eat more fat as a way of getting calories in?

nuts have 600 calories or more for 100grams worth.

fruit, while low in calories per 100gram is easy to eat, at least for me it increases my appetite so is therefor helpful for getting extra calories in.

what about muesli? make your own with oats, nuts, seeds, dried fruits : its pretty dense and high in calories.

eggs have approx 90 calories each, if you dont have cholestrol issues throw a whole bunch into an omelett with some veggies, eat a bowl of muesli on the side with chopped nuts. Easy.

If its on the go: perhaps pre-make your own homemade granola bars. Ive had pretty good store bought ones too, get one that is high in nuts and lower in sugar if possible.

eat tuna canned in olive oil.

eat chicken cooked with oil.

pasta, bread these are low in fat and high in calories. I mean, who couldnt eat 500 calories worth of bread? Most times you buy a low fat muffin somewhere they have 300 or more calories a peice and arent filing at all (IMO)

Avacados.

Drink Gatorade before/during workout.

Switch to whole milk.

Lots more fruit, especially berries.

Nuts/peanut butter.

Also drink 100% juices as well as eat the real fruit.

Well it's a pretty simple equation. Calorie-dense plus low fat equals dry food. A good example is dry soya mince available from health food shops. And being dry, it a) makes you thirsty and b) soaks up water like a sponge.

Are there any calorie-dense meals, in a small proportion? By this I mean complex carbs, proteins, and healthy fats. Like a small portion of pasta, chicken, and butter or something like that. Any other options, ballpark 150g carbs, 100-120g protein, 20-25g fat per meal?

I work as security during the summers, walking 10-12 hours nearly every day under the hot sun. If I want to keep lifting progress going, I'm going to have to take in roughly 450g carbs and 300g protein a day, along with any fats that come with it. Last summer I went from 205-210 to 175 lbs in a matter of 4 months or so.

Can't you snack on PB sandwiches? Those will be calorie dense but good fat.
