Can I substitute protein shakes for food?

I'm so sick of eating, it seems like it's all I ever do. When I'm not eating, I'm fixing something to eat. So I want to know if I can I get the same gains by substituting some of my meals with protein shakes? Also, when I reach my weight goal, will it get any easier; or am I going to have to keep eating like a horse for the rest of my life? I'm having to eat so much that the thought of eating makes me want to vomit.

destroiler, i feel you pain. I'm so sick of having to force myself to eat all the time. I don't really have the time to prepare 6 meals a day. You can probably substitute a good, thick protein shake for 3 of those meals, but don't skip the solid food completely.

Once you have completed your 1g protein per lb of body weight requirement, eat some foods that are high in fats (good fats) like peanuts & peanut butter. fats pack twice as many calories per gram than protein.

ever seen that scene in Pumping Iron when they are all going out to lunch and every guy is like "I'll have the BIG steak, 4 eggs, potatoes..." lol i just have to laugh at that, the restaurant staff must be like "where the hell did these guys come from?!"

Luca you saying its ok to drink more of ur protein then it would be to eat it?

i hear it different that getting more good protein sources from food rather then drink.

i personally only get about 80g of protein thru drinks, the other 142gs (1.2g of protein intake at 185lbs) im finding i might need to up it to 1.5.

another thing you can do destroiler is on like sunday make and freeze ur meals for the upcoming week(ex: the chicken breasts and whatnot)

hope that helps...

Try an Meal Replacement Powder....some people can get away (for a while) with having 3 meals and 3 MRP's and then their post-workout shake.

This is ok to do for awhile as Lee JB says. However dont rely on it. By doing this you are spending ALOT more money than you would be on just food (I eat 6 times a day and spend only around $30-40 a week in groceries) and you are missing out on things like fiber which is essential to a healthy digestive system.

Do it only for as long as you need to and then get back on whole foods when you can. I personally work 2 jobs and still MAKE time to eat 6 meals. I simply plan my meals out a week in advance, then on sunday I make EVERYTHING for the week (Gotta love tupperware) and that way im done. No more making food or thinking about what to eat for the entire week.
