Can Someone Explain How This Makes Any Sense? (Waist Measurements)

My widest measurement at bellybutton level around the love handles is 44 inches.

The narrowest measurement right where the waistline of my pants rests, is 41

This equals out to me wearing between a size 32 to 34 inch waist jeans. HOW does that make any sense?

If you think that's bad, try shopping for women's jeans! The sizes don't correlate to your actual size at all, nor are they consistent from brand to brand.

not tight at all. this is where the problem comes in. everytime i ask or google where exactly a guy is supposed to take a waist measurement there is a different answer. some say where your waistband goes, some say the widest part, some say the top of the illiac crest, everyone gives a location, but still....are clothing manufacturers exagerating measurement claims to stroke the ego or what? my measurement where my waistband goes is 41 inches, yet, 32-34's fit perfect right now. if i were to buy size 41's they would drop to the floor.

anyone know what gives with this?

Do you wear the waistband of your jeans BELOW the belly? That would explain the difference. Or if you wear the waist band AT the belly button then I think you would wear a larger size waist. I saw your pics and I think you wear them below the belly.

i wear them below the belly, yes. the question is....why do the pants say the are 32 or 34 inch waist when that part of my waist....where they comfortably fit....measures 41 inches?

if i wore them AT the bellybutton i believe it would look something like this.

I would have to say from my experience with clothing that your situation is is a bit of an exeption. my waist is basicly the same size in inches as my pants.

Ha ye Americans. Companies making clothes way larger than stated size to make ye feel good about what you buy for your big behinds.

I got jeans from America and they fell off me at my normal size. My normal clothes are two inches wider and these ones are still loose

I'm American, and I don't have a big behind!

I hear other (developed) nations are starting to catch up with us.
