Chicken Breast VS. Chicken Thigh

Just a few days ago i had some chicken thigh. I was amazed by how good it taste compared to chicken breast.

I bought some foster farms lean chicken thigh, this is what the label said:

1 serving 83 grams/3 oz
fat 3 grams
protein 16 grams

I know that chicken breast has about 1.5 grams of fat with 115grams per serving and about the same amount of protein.

I've always heard that chicken breast is the healthiest part of the chicken, but is thigh meat that much worse, i mean, tastewise thigh is soooo much better, it is so juicy and tasty. Chicken breast always come out dry and boring for me.

what do you guys think?

That juicy & tasty flavor comes from the extra fat you are getting. A couple of servings of thigh meat a week probably won't kill your diet plan. If you replace breast meat with thigh meat completely, then you will need to adjust fat intake somewhere else to compensate.

Chicken breast tastes dry when it is overcooked. I always grill boneless, skinless breast filets and manage to get them flavorful and juicy. It just requires a close eye on the grill and watching my cooking times. I have a variety of spice/seasoning blends I apply to the meat to get different flavors for whatever meal I'm cooking. Try Durkee St. Louis Style Chicken & Rib Rub. Also try Tones Garlic Herb Blend. Lightly spray the breast meat with olive oil spray, then sprinkle on the seasoning. There are others, but I'm out of time this morning. I may post a few recipes later if you are interested.

I have a little George Foreman grill, and it makes the best boneless skinless chicken breasts I've EVER had, plus it's so easy - sprinkle with a little allspice, put it in there for 8 minutes, it's done. Juicy, tender, very good, plus the fat all runs off.

No I'm not getting kickbacks from George Foreman.

but lean thigh doesnt really have that much extra fat, so it wouldnt be a problem so cut that fat from something else.

MMMMMMMM!!! Chicken. : It's so easy and you can do so many things to it. I love it off the Bar-b-Q. You can pretty much try it with any seasoning you want or flavor. It's just good eats.

Try baking three large chicken breasts at a time in a 350º F oven for 35 minutes. Season however you like. As pointed out, over-cooking will dry out your food.

I gotta say that chicken breast tastes way better than the thigh....but you'll pay more for the breast.

As far as health goes....I dunno. Is thigh meat considered dark? And if so, is it higher in fat?
