clean eating at night = stored fat?
I usually workout from 6:00pm to 7:30 for 5 days a week. For the most part I try to cut my carbs after 5pm and have my myoplex shake after my workout which has 25g of carbs.
I then go home and have some sort of meat and veggies like brocolli, spinach or lettuce.
QUESTION. If for example all day I ate very minimal carbs (under 50g) and had 100-130g of GOOD COMPLEX CARBS like sweet potatoes, yams, brown rice or whole wheat bread, DOES THAT GET STORED AS FAT????????????
Even though I am in my daily range of calorie intake of carbs?? (Im at 200g protein/150-170g carbs/40-60g fat) so the question is still do those carbs store as fat?
2. doest food get digested when you sleep which meant it IS gettin broken down instead of being stored?
Just wanted to clear some doubts.

your body doesn't care WHEN you eat - it only cares what you've eaten over the day. that whole "no eating after XXXX o'clock" is a myth created to put a curb on night-time bingeing. thing is, night-time bingeing is often a result of not eating during the day. not eating during the day leads to a metabolic slow-down so when you binge at night, you're taking in too many calories and that's what leads to weight gain.
the only time this is different is when you're running a timed-carb diet. then the timing is quite critical. if that's what you're doing, then you want to pile your carbs around your workout and reduce them to minimum the rest of the time. protein needs to stay constant.
calories do not get stored as fat unless you've eaten too many for your body's metabolic needs over the day. if that's the case, it doesn't matter if you've eaten them last thing at night or first thing in the morning - too much is too much.

Yes but if he is in deficit throughout the day the body will break down muscle and fat to cover this. If he makes up this difference though with a huge amount of carbs later that wont be used at nighttime it will lead to fat gain. So even if you eat your calorie maintanance if food timing and proportioning is not right you can lose muscle and gain fat.

Very true, the body doesn't just tally up everything at the end of the day. Its the type of calories and their timing that really matter. Where's cursor with his obligatory links .

oh wow thanks for posting this. I think I need to eat more during the day. I get very hungry at night so that means I'm not eating enough during my day.

You should plan your meals around your workout ( resistance training). If you workout at night, like you do, your two largest meals should be before and after. Even if you workout at 10:00 p.m., you need to eat lots of carbs (and protein) post-workout. It helps build muscle which helps burn fat.
Threenorns is right when it comes to WEIGHT gain- calories are calories. However, timing can be crucial in deciding your body composition, i.e. body fat percentage, muscle gained, ect... It's a combo of the two.
I would eat the biggest around your workout. Have something with a decent amount of carbs for breakfast, too.
Hope this helps!

Im still a little confused about this topic. Maybe its because im on my last 15lb for my goal and Im having a hard time loosing them.
I KNOW diet and cardio are the *main* factors ALONG with lifting. But based on my schedule, lets just ASSUME i follow the following schedule because Ive tried for a day or 2 but NEED an opinion.
Breakfast (6am) - NOTHING. I walk in downtown 1.5miles to work.
8:30am - green tea
9:00 - 2 tbsp NATURAL PEANUT BUTTER
12:00- meat + veggies (carbs = ~35g from BROWN rice, bread or veggies)
2:30- whey shake with 10g carbs) 50% CHANCE of me not having this shake
5:00pm - NO EXPLODE
6-8 workout with half hour cardio in there
8:30pm - chicken + veggies with BROWN rice, brown bread or sometimes white rice.... and a LOT of it too !( 70g carbs, 50g protein and 15g fat)
DOES THIS SEEM something that wont gain fat overnight? Does the timing seem like it will help me lean out and MAINTAIN/gain(minimal)??
Approximately, the above is ~160-170g protein with the shake, ~150g carbs and 50g fat.

Your last meal is about the worst place to have your highest carb meal, but I guess you need to since you workout late. Yes, this will be condusive to storing fat though if you don't workout. You want protein, fiber, and EFAs in yor final meal. Get the bulk of your carbs in for breakfast when your insulin sensitivity is highest and surrounding your weight training.
How many calories are you taking in? You look like you are starving yourself. 2 tbsp of peanut butter to get you to noon is terrible!

Well i kinda cycle my calories like zig zag them time to time to confuse the body in burning fat.
I had to fast for religious reasons for a month, where I fasted from dawn till dusk. Again, it was for religious purposes so during that time I was trying to find a way to fullfill my religious duties and MAINTAIN the muscle I had.
I came accross this "diet" called the WARRIOR DIET ; where you ate fruits, veggies and small ammounts of nuts all day and have ONE meal a day and you are allowed to eat ANYTHING in sight that is clean.
Anyway, I couldnt eat fruits n veggies all day, I could only fit in 2 meals at the most ( pre workout(breaking fast) and post) and a shake at 5am. Yes I did loose fat but muscle remained the same.
Long story short I usually get REAL hungry like 2wice a day. I have trouble with getin in 5-6 meals due to work. I usually get hungry at noon EVEN if I had breakfast and post workout.... So I was jus trying to see that If I have a decent lunch and heavy dinner, will that help me in any way.
I guess Im getting too confused over this, maybe just eating 2-3hours prior to working out and a whey shake post will do???????

You are killing your late workout gains by not eating breakfast. You must eat something before noon. Your body will hold onto all of that 8:30pm food it can because you are starving the body for the next 15 hours. Eat some protein and carbs before leaving the house.

Dito.
Also, you should never really be hungry. I find myself feeling hungry quite rarely. That's the point of eating 5 times a day.
