Confused about trying to keep diet free of chemically engineered products

Part of me feels that I should try and keep my diet mostly organic. When I say organic I don't mean only products that say "organic" on it. To me grapes are organic whether they say it or not.....but what about protein bars, protein shakes, supplements etc. Part of me feels that by using chemically engineered foods it will cause health problems later in life. This is just my feeling I'm gonna look for some articles but I was curious what do you think about it?

I use those things but totally understand your desire to avoid them.

It can be done. Just eat whole foods, plan ahead, cook meals ahead of time when you need convenience.

Eating protein bars, shakes, and the like isn't actually mandatory. It's just convenient.

I see nothing "unorganic" about protein supplements as long as they are all protein. These are made by filtering by molecular weight (lactose, fat and protein all have different molecular weights). No fancy brands just plain protein. I use NO other supplements but whey isolate and a multivitamin. The rest of the diet is whole foods.

I rarely eat bars - I can't stomach whey concentrate or casien so that elimates most of them. I do have some nut bars for emergencies.

Like Welch says - plan ahead and cook your meals in advance. You will be happier you did.

I don't think most protein bars and shakes will cause you health problems, but I do think real food tastes better and is more satisfying. I only use protein powder PWO and would only use bars if there was no other way I was going to get a "meal" in. This is rare, though, because I always have some home cooked frozen dinners in my freezer.

Supplements are just supplements. It may be completely possible to satisfy you body's nutritional needs through wholesome foods.

But I still generally like to at least have a multi-vitamin and digestive support (enzymes, probiotics) for my supplements, if nothing else. You have to consider the poor soil conditions that food is sometimes grown in.

Sprouts are something you might want to look into for a nutritional boost, if you want a way to help get away from supplements. You get vitamins, minerals, enzymes, etc. from sprouts.
