I noticed that whenever I start to take creatine, I always get a sore throat that feels like when you are coming down with a cold. I tried taking in more water to see if it was just because of that, but It didn't help any. Anybody else have this problem?

I notice this when I take my BCAA mix which has L-histidine in it. Is your creatine mixed with anything else, b/c I have never heard of this happening.
Yeah I have noticed it as well but only when I'm taking Betagen from EAS. It's exactly as you described and part of me think oh no, I'm getting sick and my immune system is down. I drink a ton of water, juice etc and try not to think about it and it usually goes away.
I'm guessing it has something to do with the acidity levels of the supplement. I wonder if you try and balance it out by taking a couple tums if that will do the trick?
Next time I get it, I'll try that and let you know if it works
thats really weird, It started happening when I started takingthat EAS Phosphagen (I think that's what it's called) Maybe it's a brand thing. Good I dea by the way about the tums thing. let me know if it works
I started a load phase a few weeks ago using just plain old prolab creapure. I had a horrible sore throat and ended up going to the doctors to get it checked out. They said that it was probably drainage. They are probably correct but i'm wondering if some of the creatine was getting caught in that bit of flem and causing more problems...hmmm
Only other supplement I take is protein from optinum nutrition.
I may know why, I take Cell-Tech Creatine and get the same feeling when I drink it, a burning and sore sensation in my throat. Its because of the alpha lipoic acids in it, although maybe you guys are talking about something else. Just a thought
I've just started taking creatine and I found I got it too when loading - I occasionally get it after my normal dose 3 wks down the line too - I think it's a dry feeling in your throat, at least, that's what it feels like to me, just drink lots of water I reckon!
