Eating out

Hi, I tend to eat out alot...I come from a big Italian family and it's ALWAYS either someones birthday, Christening, graduation, you name it, on top of that, when I get together with my friends, it's dinner and drinks! Not to mention the fact that my dad and my fiance love going out to eat. So my problem right now is, it's my brothers birthday and I'm taking him out to dinner cause I'm leaving for vacation on his real birthday, and of course he wants to go to The Cheesecake Factory!!! What am I gonna eat? How does everyone order when they go out? Nights like this often lead me to a carb fest, I'm the type of person that there is no half way, it's either healthy or totally not healthy. Plus, I already had a cheat meal last night!

Thanx

Cheesecake factory has a chicken and avacado sandwich that is awesome. Get veggies instead of fries, hold the mayo, and you're all set. No one is gonna give you willpower magically. Don't blame the environment, take responsibility and eat well.

Oh Ithink you mean the Navajo chicken sandwich, I've had that, I'll ask them to prepare it that way! I try to fallow a 40-30-30 diet, but when I eat out, I'm not sure how to do it.

Do you have a cheat day in your diet? It sure sounds like a golden opportunity.

Just be smart about your menu selections. You should be able to find something like grilled chicken, or some kind of healthy choice foods on the menu. If all else fails, then go for a glass of milk, and a salad like LadyC suggested, along with a side of water.

This is why I don't "schedule" cheat meals- they're going to happen. I'll usually get something on the healthier side- like at the Maccaroni Grill I'll get the Whole Wheat Penne with spinache, broccoli, and roasted red peppers and garlic cream sauce. The sauce is bad, and the pasta is lots of carbs, but it's sort of a compromise, in my mind. Also, drink lots of water and eat a little something healthy before if you have portion control issues- I know I do at restaurants when they put all that food in front of you!
