Eating "right" and eating disorders.

As someone who had eating disorder many years ago it's kind of hard for me to know the limit between healthy eating and healthy thinking about food and becoming obsessed with food/ healthy food.
I try to eat well and healthy but sometimes I feel I think too much about it.
Does anyone have the same thoughts ? is there anyone here with any kind of eating disorder (present or past) ?
What do you think is the limit between thinking "healthy food" and becoming obsessed with it ?

i think about food/nutrition/workouts a LOT

I had disordered eating when I was younger, and back then I would try to eat less than 1000 calories every day and spend at least an hour on the elliptical trainer.

Now I may think about food just as much, but I am more focused on giving my body what it NEEDS rather than trying to get thinner. I try to limit my consumption of sugar and processed foods, but I don't consider this disordered.

I think that if you get to a point where you are restricting what you eat to an extraordinary degree, and/or making yourself somewhat of a social outcast because of this, you may have a problem.

It's all about balance, feed your body right, but if sometimes you DON'T that is ok too.

I was hospitalized with anorexia summer 2005. Even though it was only 3 years, I've come a long way and gained around 20-30 lbs from my low weight, depending on where my weight is.

It's one of the reasons that even though I've competed, I never go strict with the diet. I'm doing this because it's FUN, not because I think I need to drop body fat, gain muscle, etc.

I think it would be a problem if you couldn't let yourself have certain foods (they're "bad"), you were isolating yourself because of your "diet," and/or weren't allowing yourself any freedom for unexpected events (surprise meals/invitations).

When I started to train to compete this year (an I'm not going to compete for other reasons), I started eating a lot cleaner. Then I noticed the foods I would let myself eat getting to be less and less of a variety. So I through the idea out the window and just tried to eat healthier, not "clean" all the time.

I think about it all the time, but I never had a disorder, other than being terribly skinny, But I ate alot when I was younger, or so I thought... I also find thinking about it all the time is annoying and time consuming. I know eating perfect will reap the best results, but im ok with just eating healthy things, and not worrying about the timing of certain foods and all that crap.

Eat a balanced meal or balanced snack every time you eat. protien, fruits-vegetables, starches. thats the way I look at it.
