Eggs for breakfast???

I have a question. A workout buddy of mine told me that he eats scrambled eggs every morning for the protein. He said that eggs have a great source of protein and almost zero fat. But he doesnt eat any eggs, he eats some egg product that comes in a carton called 'Better than eggs'. It claims to have zero cholesterol but I mean how can eggs not have cholesterol? My question is how can people workout and each such a massive amount of eggs every morning for months, and not have high cholesterol????

I mean sure eggs are good but won't it lead to high cholesterol?

also what are some other good high in protein, low fat mornin meals?

thanks!!!

The cholesterol in eggs comes from the yolk (yellow part). "Better than Eggs" is colored egg whites, therefore, no cholesterol.

I simply separate my eggs as I pull them from the carton. Each egg contains approx 6-8 grams protein (depending on size of egg). Removing the yolk reduces the protein by about half. So more eggs are required to make up the same amount of protein but no fat. That is how we consume so many eggs.

I personally eat oatmeal with protein powder for breakfast most mornings. Also try Morningstar brand of sausage patties. They are an excellent meat substitute without the fat.

And even if you are eating whole eggs, as long as you control your carbohydrate intake so that you don't exceed your glycogen storage space (15g/kg of lean body mass) you won't store the fat you eat as saturated fat and cholesterol. That's why people on ketogenic diets eating high amounts of fat actually lower their cholesterol levels. But, as the carbohydrate intake goes up - ie bodybuilder or powerlifter eating lots of carbs for bulking the fat intake NEEDS to go down. Can't eat high amounts of both and be healthy.

Another thing, if you don't like just egg whites or the colored egg product - simply separate them as Lady C described and include one yolk - colors it, and keeps the fat pretty low.

Or do like I do, eat cereal and a protein shake for breakfast. There are many ways to meet your needs - you've just got to find the one that works best for you.

I love eggs. I usually make one egg, and then add egg whites to it, adding some cheese and sometimes other stuff. Its awesome

I stick with the 4whites/yok ratio seems like a good balance of flavor, texture, some but not too much fat. I ussually eat 8 whites and 2 yoks every morning. (and have for 4 yrs)
