Evening Meal - Protein Shake

Total:1313 Fat:31 280 22% Sat:4 40 3% Poly:7 61 5% Mono:14 124 10%Carbs:206 697 55% Fiber:31 0 0%Protein:72 289 23%

I am trying to eat more protein but I didn't eat enough during the day so I planned to have a protein shake (1 scoop protein powder, 1 small banana, 1/3 cup light chocolate soy milk) around 9p.m. I ate dinner at 7:30p.m. (5 oz. crab, 2 cups lettuce, 2 med. pickles, 1 tsp. olive oil). The total above is my caloric intake including the protein shake. I know that it's probably not wise to eat carbs. in the evenings because I am losing bodyfat but would it be okay to have the shake since the carb. count is not that high?

(I put the banana (frozen) in there because I like my shakes thick and slushy - I know that I could cut down on the carbs. if I took it out).

soy protein powder - 120 calories/1gfat/14gcarbs/18gprotein
light chocolate milk - 33/1/6/1
small banana - 70/0/18/1

on such a restricted diet, don't worry at ALL about when you're eating carbs - personally, i'd be worrying about envisioning my cat with a nice teriyaki basting sauce.

also, if it's just a one day here and there thing, don't worry about it anyway.

Thanks. I needed to hear that threenorms.
I find myself getting so caught up in the numbers and specifics of what to eat, how much and when that I have a hard time relaxing about the process sometimes. I think I need to find a new hobby to keep my mind occupied rather than thinking about food so much!

Don't worry Joanne, you'll get it all sorted out. Then once you've met your goal and it is time to increase your intake, you'll end up thinking, "oh no, it's time to eat again".

Eventually though, once you get into the habit of getting the right nutrition it'll become second nature. You'll just know what's in whatever you are eating. The hard part is getting it all down pat again when it's time to change.
