Fat Gain and mass/strength building

I'm trying to minimize fat gains, but without hurting my muscle mass gains.

My question is:

Is there any difference between say a 2500 calorie diet with fats, sugars and simple carbs and a 2500 calorie diet thats 100% clean? Or is it basically the calorie count that matters? This is regardless of health effects - just in reference to how each would affect muscle/fat gains.

If I cut out all the cheese/fatty stuff, I just know I'll end up eating more to compensate, but it will be cleaner, not sure if theres much of a difference for what I'm trying to do. If you want to make case for me to eat clean, please do, but only in regards to mass building/fat gains. I'm not really interested in the overall health benefits of eating clean at this point, as I tend to think I eat fairly healthy, even if there are bad fats in my diet. I like cheese and mayo on my sandwhiches. I'm only human!

Calories are not created equal. Macronutrient ratio's are very important as they will affect things like hormone production, blood sugar levels, and insulin sensitivity (to name a few).

If you are trying to minimize fat gains while bulking they become even more important.

Total calories are what matters BUT if you fill up on cheap simple carbs your body will not be as satisfied as good clean carbs full of fiber.

Also simple carbs may not help keep the fat gains down because they tend to spike the insulin. Too much insulin production causes fat stores to increase.

I can go three hours on a 250 calorie meal of hearty oatmeal and only an hour with 250 calories of orange juice and toast.

Good advice, kind of what I expected to hear. Ok - I'll make an effort to cut the white bread/white rice.

What is the verdict with the "bad fats" though? Do these affect mass gains/fat gains or is it simply a health issue?
