Hey MM (or anybody else who knows the right answer) - RE: Carb delpetion

I just thought of something. Generally - even on low carb days I have a dextrose/creatine shake about 10 minutes before my postworkout protein. Today is day 2 of carb depletion. I'll be swimming and biking today - not as hard as usual though, probably just a 3/4 mile swim and a 8 mile bike ride. I'll try to control myself and not go all out - but sometimes, I'm not as smart as I should be. I will be hitting that big hill that gave me problems earlier on a couple of times since I can get de-conditioned pretty quickly.

Should I skip the postworkout dextrose or would that be ok to have since it's immediately after the ride? Even in my very low carb days - I've never tried to totally deplete before so I'm not certain what to do here.

Thanks.

ah i can tell u what i know...generally on low carb diets ur going to feel very fatigued and tired. You may be in better shape then u think if u eat enough fuel to support your run. Also u may want to try artificial energy sources like caffeine to give u some energy to run up that big hill. I also have that problem of loozing my cardio rather quickly too. You should definitely take in some kind of a recovery calories after you run. I'd say chocolate milk its got sugar and protein in it to send straight to ur muscles. Hope i helped ya out a little bit hehe
