flax seed oil ... how much do you take per day?

ok I just bought some gel cap flax seed oil tablets... each one is 1000 mg.

right now I am taking only 2 caps a day .. do i need more??? it is my cutting cycle right now...

I just want to see about how many mg or tbsp.. etc.. people take and how they take it?

also what times do you usually take it, after your workout.. at night.. with every meal?? ok..

Thanks!

Trevor

3 cap of 1000 mg a day is recommended. Best off taking them at meal times . . I've heard of people taking up to 6 caps but in my eyes it's just a waste . .

When I'm really needing it, 2-3 tablespoons per day Other times a teaspoon or two. I put it in a shake, juice, on a salad or just straight off the spoon.

I never found the little gel caps to be an effective amount to make a difference. It's expensive that way too.

IMO, the best way to get omega-3 fats is through flax-seed MEAL, or ground up flax seeds. This not only has the omega-3 fats, but also quality fiber and protein, along with other nutrients not found in just the oil. I usually add 2 tablespoons, which as 4.5 grams of fat, to my morning meal which consists of yogurt, half a banana, and some frozen berries (fresh when in season). If I eat oatmeal, I'll add it to that, and it's good in smoothies too. Hope this helps!

The capsules while cheap, just do not equal the serving of omegas that you get from the straight liquid. In most instances, you would have to take 10-15 capsules just to get 1 tablespoon worth of omegas. If you are trying to take it 2-3 times per day, you bottle will finish VERY fast trust me. The 2-3 capsules is doing very little for you.

This might be sort of repetative, but the oil goes rancid much quicker than the flax seed meal, I believe. This is important, and you get better things from the meal too...

It's not an either or choice IMHO. Have both around. If you buy seed you just have to grind them into meal before using them the oils are protected from going rancid for a long time when it is left as a seed. If you buy it ground it is just as perishable as the oil.

Buy small quantities and use it regularily or buy seeds and grind your own (use a small coffee mill)

Early this week I found some "Bob's Red Mill Flaxseed" at my supermarket so I decided to try it. But I wasn't prepared for the effect it would have on my stomach. Added two tablespoons to my oatmeal the other day and my stomach was rumbling all day. Yesterday I tried it with just one tablespoon and it wasn't so bad. Had a second one in the evening b4 bed. Trying that again today.

Label says a serving is 3 Tbs, but obviously I need to ease into this stuff. Guess my system is not what it used to be.
