gaining weight

hey guys. some may remember me. i have been really busy wrestling. anywho, i need to gain weight starting in march, after the season is over. i have had to drop down to 119 and now that im down, i seem to have no trouble staying down. the problem is, i don't want to be so light after the season is over. i want to get up to 150. i am 5'6. i was wondering if anyone had any advice as to the best foods to eat and the best course of action to take so that i can consistently make gains.

Don't set a goal to hit 150 if you are gonna need to come back down to 119 in another 8 months....Just plan on gaining some weight gradually and slowly and increase your strength...If you go to hit 150 fast you'll put on some BF% and that isn't that great of an idea for wrestling....Try hitting about 135 and stay a little leaner....No point to go way up if you are gonna stay in the 119 class....If you plan on going up in wt class then just gain gradually and don't get fat...

I think the best strategy is to just get on a good weightlifting regimine and a healthy "bulking" diet and see where it takes you. The last thing you want to do is add a lot of fat, which will just be a pain to lose again when your next wrestling season comes around.

I wouldn't set a specific goal other than packing on as much muscle as you can while minimizing fat gains. If you get to 150, then great. If you only get to 135, then that's great too.

Just gain as much lean muscle as you can without adding fat. The problem comes when people say, "I want to gain 20 pounds in six months." If they aren't gaining enough, they will just eat more and more and eventually add enough fat to get there. I think setting a specific amount is a negative way to look at what you want to do. Just think about your goals:

1. Gain as much muscle as you can between wrestling seasons
2. Get as strong as you can before your next season
3. Keep you bodyfat as low as you can while building muscle

Just focas on those three things. If you gain 15 pounds or 40 pounds it doesn't matter, as long as you are getting the most out of your workout and diet. It shouldn't matter how much you weigh, as long as the three things above are achieved.
