Genetics.....

Im not sure if this is where I should be posting this....but are some people just genetically pre-disposed to have a soft midsection? I diet and train hard but it seems as if I cant loose that last bit of belly fat and love handles. I am finally seeing small gains in muscle mass, which is nice. I naturally have a relatively slow metabolism, and I am always stressd out, but I would think that 3 days (stepping it up to 5 this week) of weights an 6 days of cardio by now would have gotten rid of more of my midsection. According to the calipers Iam 12.5% BF...i can see my abs (4 pack) only if I flex and suck it in some.....I would like to be able to see them with out flexing. I am obviously frustrated, so Iam curious if Iam fighting a losing battle, am I just supposed to be this way?

Well, different bodies store fat in slightly different ways. Some bodies spread fat around a bit more than others, some concentrate it more. So yeah, there's a *small* genetic component in that everybody's a little different.

Don't overlook all those 'slightly, a bit, some, small, little' qualifiers though.

When it comes to getting rid of a midsection the important factors are nutrition and activity (and in that order, too).

Genetics is waaaaaaaaaaaaaay down near the bottom.

We can all say that we diet hard but what if your diet isnt very good. You could be eating nutrients at times you shouldnt. I would post your diet if you can I am finally seeing small gains in muscle mass, which is nice. I naturally have a relatively slow metabolism, and I am always stressd out, but I would think that 3 days (stepping it up to 5 this week) of weights an 6 days of cardio by now would have gotten rid of more of my midsection. It could be your over doing it....your body is probably saying.."hey idiot your working too hard" Take a step back up the weights drop some cardio...there is such a thing as too much cardio According to the calipers Iam 12.5% BF...i can see my abs (4 pack) only if I flex and suck it in some.....I would like to be able to see them with out flexing. I am obviously frustrated, so Iam curious if Iam fighting a losing battle, am I just supposed to be this way? When is the last time you took a break from your diet. I know when i have low calorie extremes for weeks i take one week and bump my calories up and when i go back to low cal again i start losing instantly.

also, those calipers can be way out of whack, by as much as 7%.

are you taking your own readings? if so, it's pretty much certain it's not accurate.

keep plugging: once your BF is low enough, you'll lose the pudge.

I appreciate everyones feedback. To answer questions on my diet...I average 1500 calories a day, with a p/c/f split of 50/20/30, my body seems to react better with lower carbs....I took a small break form the diet this weekend and ate more carbs and it instantly stores it and bumped me up 3 lbs. I do not measure my own body fat...and Iam aware that calipers can be inaccurate. I have scheduled a bod pod test to get more accurate readings. www.bodpod.com I will take come pictures to post how I look later today.

Don't worry. 3 lbs in a weekend is more likely to be water retention. It will probably be gone by the end of week.

And some people want miracles overnight. You have posted this before and you were basically told then, BE PATIENT and keep training and eating right and it will eventually happen.

Genetics always play a role, but despite your genetic predispostioon you can always make gains if your workout technique and diet are correct.
