No, caffeine is not it's primary reason for it's success. The major thermogenic agent in Green Tea is EGCG (epigallocatechin gallate), which willbe present in regular or decaf.
10-20 cups per day has a lot of upside for cardiovascular disease and fighting off cancer not to mention thermogenic effects. Thats a lot to drink so I am taking a capsule supplement and drinking 2-3 cups per day at the office. Using jarrows green tea supplement.
I like two decaf bags and one regular seems to give a good balance without too much caffiene, Stack with Panax Ginesing and you'll have a real eastern energy drink.
Is that 10-20 cups a day your an estimate from what you're taking in cap supplements? That's a whole lotta tea dude.
I was researching last night to try and find what the capsule represents and it seemed like it might be around 10 cups equivelance. While doing that I saw info that > 10 is where you want to be to get the max anti-cancer anti-cardiovascular disease benefits. But you wont benefit with anti-oral and throat stuff if your dont drink it, they went on to say pill plus 10. So today was pill plus 3, not bad. Asian people drink it all day long.....
Without knowing anything in stone, I would presume since it's part of their culture, the tea is alot better, purer in Asia, so they probably don't need to drink as much as us to get the benefit. But they do drink alot all the same. Like Americans with coffee, and the British with their Earl Grey tea
I'm thinking that actual green tea leaves are more highly concentrated? Wouldn't need to drink as much but the bags we have here would seem to lose some of the benefits. Maybe that's odd thinking but, knowing how processed things can get, you never know. All in all, it's great stuff for you anyhow.
