Healthy Bread?

Does anyone have a reccomendation for the best bread to get? I currently use Natures own Light wheat:

The Natures Own Light Wheat:
40 calories; .5g fat; 9.5g carbs;2.5g fiber; 2.5g protein per slice

I usually have a sandwhich each day and I would like to have the healthiest bread i can. Unfortunatly i do not have a bread maker and i do not desire to make my own bread manually. Any suggestions would be most welcome =)

If you can find a Great Harvest, try their bread. I'm sure they'll have a 7 or 11 grain bread. Baked daily, they even grind their own flower.

They are all over the US now.

Fudo's right—Great Harvest makes pretty wholesome bread. Here's reference to the nutrition labels for all of their breads.

Healthy Bread.

IMHO, the most important factor in choosing a healthy bread is to stay away from any made with white flour - and remember, "wheat" flour *is* white flour. The label must read "whole" wheat or "whole" grains.

You may want to consider a bread machine. They are extremely easy to use and you will have complete control over the ingredients. I can suggest a book with some wonderful, delicious, different and healthy recipes using whole grains.

Dempsters makes some really good high fiber, low fat, multi-grain breads too.

Also, the 9 grain ciabatta 'triangle' buns from Costco are really good.

I think I may have found the best bread ever in the deli section of my local grocery store it's 100% rye bread and you can get blends with wild rice, flax, sunflowers etc. It has a yeasty almost fermented taste and is so dense you could probably bounce it off the floor but at 90 cals and 0.6 g of fat per slice I'm thinking it doesn't get much healthier.

I see that there is chain of bakeries called, Natural Ovens Bakery that looks like they carry whole grain quality breads. I've pointed to a map that show US locations. Click on their Products menu choice.
