Healthy Hot Dogs

Hi.

I just found 'Healthy Choice' Hot Dogs that are much better nutrition wise than traditional brands such as Oscar Myer. Here is the nutritional content.

6P - 7C - 2.5F - 70Cal

1SatFat - 15 Choles - 440 Sodium - 2Sugars

The fat content especially is much lower than normal. I got them at Shoppers Food Warehouse [SFW] in case anyone was wondering.

I bought a pack and I'm definitely enjoying them.

Have a good one.

Talking

Hebrew National?

I know the general concensus is to stay away from hot dogs, but what does everyone think of Hebrew National?
(They answer to a higher authority!)

I recently picked up some chicken sausage. Each link is 90 grams (3.2 oz) and is 130 cals, 5 grams fat (1.5 sat fat), 1 gram carbs, and 17 grams protein. These are really decent I think- and if they taste decent it will definitely be worth it. Put on a whole wheat bun and... - hey! I didn't think you could have hotdogs while cutting... :

Chicken sausage, hmmm what an interesting concept. Sounds good, was it some brand name with these or what? Where did you buy them. I can't say I've ever seen it before.

SNPiccolo are they from Trader Joe's? If so, we love them, they taste great anyway you make them. As a matter of fact, we are going to have them today with the healthy Mac & Cheese recipe you posted.

They are "Casual Gourmet"- never heard of it before. I got them at Costco and was really surprised when I saw the nutrition label, as most other chicken sausages I have seen are made from every part of the chicken EXCEPT the breast, so they have tons of fat.

What's the nutrition info for the Trader Joe's ones and where can you get them? I'm interested!

They come in about 5 flavors - here is what the Spinach, fontana and garlic package says
values are per link
Calories = 180
Total fat = 10 g - 3.5 sat fat
Total Carb = 1 g
Protein = 20 g
Sodium = 630 mg
Cholesterol = 70 mg

Ingred: skinless chicken, spinach, fontana cheese, roasted garlic, parsley, black pepper, salt. That's it!

They are Trader Joe's brand

I found at meijers some turkey hot dogs. Made with all turkey breat. I don't eat any kind of red meat, so turkey hot dogs sounded good. Only 45 calories, 0 fat 3 carbs. There really good. Got aunt millie's low carb whole wheat buns too. There 60 calories, 1.5 grams of fat and 14 carbs. Very good!!!

Hmmm, they had a brand of chicken sausages with nutrition info similiar to what you posted, Lady C, but I chose the one with less fat, I'll see if they carry those too!

rrouleau- Places like Costco, IMO, are loaded with tons of horrible food- especially Sam's Club that my family were members of just 2 weaks ago! However, I think you really can find some worthwhile foods, like these chicken sausages, that make it worth it. Good luck with finding them!
