Healthy Ketchup?

Every ketchup bottle I look at has high fructose corn syrup in it. Does anyone know of any ketchups that doesn't have that stuff in it? Or how about a recipe for ketchup? Any idea how long it might keep? I really like having ketchup on a couple items but I hate having that ingredient in my diet since it's not in anything else I eat.

It's only 16 calories per serving. Do you eat alot of ketchup?

Naw, only a serving or 2 a day. It's not about the calories, it's about the corn syrup.

Go to Google and type in "homemade ketchup". There is a ton of recipes that will come back from that search.

What in the world do you eat that you put ketchup on so often?

I have a serving or two every 4-6 months since I eat minimal french fries. (I don't know what else to put it on)

Ketchup goes with almost anything. I mainly have it with eggs (scrambled and omelette) or grilled chicken. Very often I will mix some Ketchup with BBQ sauce and Soy sauce and use as a quick marinade when I'm short on supplies.

It really does the job though if I'm faced with a plate full of egg whites and bread.

For my own curiosity, lyra, why don't you want the corn syrup? Allergies? Insulin response? Or something else?

Buffalo burgers and boca burgers. I usually have one or the other every day.

Now I am a mustard freak. I'll put it on almost anything, but ketchup (or catsup) I don't go for much.

Hmmmm fries - Carbohydrate and fat at the same time, probably trans fat since they are cooked in the HOT oil.

Don't see how a little catsup or even mustard is going to make much of a difference there.

Seriously, I don't think a small amount of catsup is going to hurt your overall nutrition plan very much. If it does bother you - follow Ironman's suggestion about googling for homemade recipies. Or look in the sugar free/low carb foods at the grocery store. There are catsup brands made with no sugar.
