Body Mass Index is the most commonly used formula to predict 'ideal' weight/height. Unfortunately it's not perfect and unfairly penalises those with large amounts of muscle mass...
Anyway, the formula is:
Weight (Kg)
------------
(Height (m))^2
<20 = underweight
20-25 = normal weight
25-30 = overweight
30-35 = obese
>35 = class II obese
Yeah, it isn't exactly accurate. I'd go by your bf% and resting heart rate if you want to guage how healthy you are. For instance, if someone my height (5'10") were to get up to 200 lbs at 10% bf, they'd be considered nearing obesity on the bmi, even though they barely have 20 lbs of fat on them
