Peanut butter and skim milk, usually. I've been making some oatmeal bars lately. Half cup oatmeal, 2 tbspn milk, 2 tbspn whole wheat flour, cinnamon, and one mashed banana. Bake for about 10 minutes. It's pretty good. Eventually, I'm going to buy some protein powder and stir some in to the mix. Not sure what type I want to use. Probably will be vanilla whey.

Jakanden posted an oatmeal-bar with yogurt recipe a while back that was pretty good if you used splenda. I found you could change it endlessly. I made chocolate, corn meal, apple, you name it oatmeal bars with that recipe. I stopped using it, however, because I've moved away from consuming splenda.

I usually put just a little brown sugar and salt in my oatmeal- nothing more than 2 tsp brown sugar. Oh, ground flax seed, too, 2 Tbs. If I'm feeling excited, I'll sautee an apple and put cinnamon etc... in it.

Plain with a tsp or 2 of brown sugar or real maple syrup.

I've succumbed to the convenience of plain instant oatmeal and hot water on mornings I go to the gym. It actually tastes pretty salty compared to the natural stuff. Oatmeal gives me severe hunger pains within an hour of eating it so I make sure I have access to more food and not more oatmeal.

I like to start my day with:
3/4 cup Oats
1 Tbs Flaxseed

1 Tbs Wheat Germ
1 Scoop Whey
Cinnamon
.33 cup Blueberries

Just last week I tried that recipe for Vanishing Oatmeal Raisin Cookies printed under the lid of the Quaker Oats Canister. Replaced Flour with Whole Wheat Flour, replaced sugar with splenda, adjusted sugars portions to equal parts brown sugar to splenda. And even added a scoop of Whey.

Turned out to be a very nice treat. (Have not yet calculated the macronutirents.)

Mine's little to no frills:

1/2 cup oats (regular, not instant)
1 cup skim milk
1 packet Splenda
Small handful whole almonds

Although raisins do sound good too. Good idea! Before I changed my lifestyle, I used to make oatmeal with 2% milk and both butter and sugar. Sort of negates the whole idea of eating oatmeal in the first place, huh?

They're going to be way high in fat- but you can substitute either yogurt or applesauce for the butter. They are a good treat, I agree- I've made them many times before. Also, you can reduce the sugar significantly, keeping everything the same, cut the butter in half, and the still work, and they'll have the butter taste.

Thanks for the tip. Going to have to give that a try. Would it be replaced by equal parts (tbs applesauce for a tbs butter)?

This morning, I mixed a half cup of "Banana Walnut" cereal from Post, and an extra half banana into my oatmeal. Very nice.
