How many grams per day of protien should I get for each pound of body weight? should the amount be adjusted to coincide with lean body mass? and last but not least, what is the best way to get this protien?(which supplements have the highest # grams per serving)
1.5 grams of proteind per pound of total bodyweight is a good beginning on a bodybuilding diet. Protein is fuel to build your muscles and the extra protein is vital to that function. The marketing of various products now says just plain whey protein isn't enough. If you read enough articles and ads you will realize that getting protein into your body every 2 hours is important, no matter what type of protein it is! ! I like the taste of whey so that is what I use. Casein, egg, or soy are all usable portein for bodybuilding purposes. The bodybuilders back in the 60's and 70's only had soy protein and it didn't hurt their development one bit. Use what you like, and beware of the hype!
1 to 1.5grams per pound of bodyweight is enough
try to get required amounts from food or try protein supps
Typical high protein foods, lean beef, chicken breast fillets, fish, turkey and Quality protein powders and MRP's, canned tuna and egg whites are good as well. Just watch out for the sugar content and carb amounts in your powders and MRP's.
You can go up to 2 grams per pound...isn't gonna hurt you. Just beware of putting on fat.
I personally like soy protein isolate. The one I get has 94% protein when mixed with milk. So, for me that's pretty high.
I also take Albumin..which isn't really pricy.
This may help you to determine how much is there...
