How to change my diet for blood pressure

Right now I have low blood pressure, which I assume is in part because of my diet. What types of food (sodium?) should I consume, or what else can I do, to increase my blood pressure?

I'm not insanely keen on doing cardio and it has nothing to do with the fact that I am lazy, but I think that doing too much cardio will not do me any good because of my size.

Why do you think your size should prevent you from doing cardio? If you are skinny, then just eat more and do cardio.

Mainly because it's pretty much impossible for me to eat any more without vomiting and I still gain no weight.

What size are you? Most athletes and people with low body fat have decreased blood pressure. This is due to the fact that athletes are more efficient at pumping blood and skinny people have less tissue to pump the blood to (and usually less harmful things in the blood such as cholesterol that clogs arteries and makes the heart have to pump harder).

The only reason one should increase their blood pressure is that it is so low that they black out or have trouble with their hands or feet. Otherwise an increase in blood pressure equals more resistance and that makes the heart have to work harder.

The main concern I have is why are you having trouble keeping food down? Any certian condition?

I'm pretty small - 5'10" but only about 130lbs.

No eating problems or anything it's just that I eat a LOT of food and to cram any more into my face would probably result in me spewing chunks all over.

Sodium is no longer believed to have the terrible effect on blood pressure that is once was thought to have. If you like salt, eat it - just don't go to excess. If your blood pressure is low, it is probably because you exercise. Don't worry about the blood pressure so much if you aren't having problems from it. All of our bodies are different and a blood pressure that is dangerously low for one person is just fine for another. Same with the upper end of the scale. Some people who have 180/80 are just fine - others are at higher risk for cardiovascular disease from it.

2 years ago, mine stayed about 200/100. Now it stays around 110/50 - as low as 90/60 if I'm completely relaxed and just finished sleeping. Must have something to do with not being a lard a$$ anymore.

As far as not gaining weight - I can understand that. I'm sure you get sick of hearing the, "eat more" comments. I know when I was bulking that's what everyone kept telling me, it was a real struggle to get over 2000 cal a day. Finally I got where I could eat 3500 without feeling like I was overeating. I just chose to add some fat to my diet, and made the highest protein choices I could find - mostly steak and tuna. Plenty of chicken breasts too. The whey powders can also help a good bit here. My plan is to mix them with milk while bulking, water while cutting. Plus I use 2 scoops three times a day, instead of 1 scoop a day. That helps get those calories up without feeling like puking too.

Puking should come from your workouts - not from your food.
