How to figure out your metabolism


How can I figure out what my metabolic rate is? Does it correspond directly to your heart rate? I know working out increases it for a certain time, but how can I guage it? Is it possible to increase your metabolism in general? What I mean is, let's say one day I'm fat and I want to start working out. I do that for a year and lose weight and increase muscle ...is my resting metabolic rate higher than it was a year ago?

Yes. Rather that trying to pinpoint it in terms of numbers, just get to work (if you haven't already). As you continue on your path to improved fitness, pay attention to the way that your body responds to your workouts and changed eating habits. Make adjustments ... move foreward.
