How's this for a diet?

I just can't convince myself that this is the healthiest way to drop unwanted weight.

Just goes to show nothing. The you don't diet you make a life style change that last with you for the rest of your life. She could have done the same thing with a tub of lard (exageration) if she did it properly. Talk to her in two years. Then they can write an article about it. That is if she still is that size.

well eating 1400 cals a day of anything while working construction jobs is gonna lose you weight. I'm guessing given the high proportion of fat in those 1400 cals she's not losing too much bodyfat but more likely burning off muscle tissue.

I have nothing against fast food as part of a balanced diet or to achieve certain goals (I for example eat a Burger King/Dominos etc.. on avg one meal a day to get my calories up) but, like yourself, can't see it is beneficial as a standalone food source.

By what I get from it she eats everything as long as she is under 1400 calories a day.

it'd be interesting to have checked her body composition before and after.

add to that the deluxe burger combo for lunch and dinner with a couple of milkshakes and the result is truly horrifying.

I believe I could do set up a combo that would equal 1400 calories a day. I don't think I would be healthy but I could do it.

I don't think this idea is all that crazy. Dieting is about portion and calorie control. I often stop at Wendy's and get 1 junior bacon cheeseburger with no tomato for $1.49. That hits the spot like a meal. I peel off the unmelted cheese around the edges and tear away the oversized bun, using it to wipe away the excess mayo that sometimes oozes out (who likes a mouthful of just mayo!).

They might hate me for only spending a $1.49 (tax inc.) at there drive through but that is all I want. If I am really hungry I'll get 2 of them. I save about $1.80 getting 2 juniors instead of a single classic burger and I only get about 20 more calories according to their website nutrition (not subtracting my obsessive behaviour for correcting the bun cheese and mayo portions).

It usually takes care of the dimes nickels and pennies in my car change cup.

This goes to show you that to lose weight, it's really just calories. It might not be the right kind of weight either.

This is an extreme example of making it easy but restricting yourself to a certain number of calories. If she did some research for 1 week, and thought about it a little, she could make a diet that is just a little bit more time consuming, with health benefits beyond weight loss.

At least she's limiting her calories...
