What will make a difference is a lot of people changing their eating habits a little rather than one person changing his/her habits a lot. So while I remain optomistic, I also realize that this will take a long time because eating is a cultural activity.

BTW, about 9 years ago I gave up all alcohol and also switched to green tea from coffee.
that is an interesting stat, but i think that it would have to be way more than that. I think it is safe to say that 1/3 of the population already has at LEAST 3 meatless meals a week. Heck, I do that, whether it be a pasta dinner, a pizza dinner, or even a PB and jelly sandwich. So i think the numbers have to be a lot higher than that

You're probably right. I should have stated that as 3 ADDITONAL meatless meals.

Extremely rare though and sold only in natural food stores under the counter. Sometimes a little tough and stringy because the meat is usually more than 90+ years old. I'd recommend the carnivore meat. Cheap, well marbled and lots of it that is 50 years old or less. The tangy taste of the meat is due to the high concentrations of chemical residues, anitbiotics and growth hormones. By all means, don't try to eat the heart - you'll liable to bite into a battery and some wires.

id like to commend you guys as well. its always tough to abstain in our society. im in college, believe me, i'm essentially isolated from about 95% of weekend events because i dont drink. but im always doing something with the 5%. its hard but there are other people out there that do better stuff with their lives than get drunk and walk around, and im lucky to have found several people like that.

You know, recently i've posted a couple health concerns, cholesterol and my heart condition. Dude i have never smoked a cig, never done weed, any illegal drug, never drank but 1 beer here or there (never been drunk and never done a shot).

Maybe i should start seeing as how i have friends that smoke like chimneys and drink like it's goin out of style and have nothin worng with them. I dunno, maybe later on in life they'll be the ones iwth all the problems and i'll be healthier lol.

there;s always that one guy you know who breaks the norm, and does everything wrong, but nothing ever happens to them. And I know 2, lol...one guy smokes like 2 packs a day, drinks like every day, and I mean a lot, 6-12 beers every day probably, takes steroids, stacker 2s like there's no tomorrow, and I swear he will out live all of us, just because.

and the other is my grandfather--he's been smoking over a pack a day since he was like 13, he is now 87 and just watches everyone around him come down with things and get hospitalized, yet he just keeps on smoking, and damn if I tell you he's (knock on wood) still going strong : go grandpa!! lol

You know I used to drink and smoke alotta weed when i was younger in high school... Im only 20. at first my fitness lifestyle didnt get to much in the way of things. But now that its turn to an obsession i find myself in the gym on nights i shouldnt be their instead of partying. I dont drink or smoke any more, so i get ostrasized as well. It sucks... but once you become obsessed with the gym you find out who your true friends are... the ones who stil hang out with you even though your not takin a two story beer bong to your face... or fadin on a blunt. The only one whos my true friend is my girlfriend... she understands why i dont do any of that ****.

Congratulations to so many of you who at a young age have made a decision to not smoke or drink. It would be very self-defeating to go to the gym to get in great shape and then indulge in self-destructive drinking and smoking habits.:

I've been mostly sober for a year now. It was pretty strange, at first, not to drink 15 drinks 4 times a week, but I got use to it. It was screwing up my lifting, and more importantly, my life.

Now, I'll have a couple of drinks with my friends once a week or so.
