I snack on lunchmeat and cheese a lot, are these good snacks?

Low carbs, and a way to put a little protein in, I snack on lunch meat and American cheese, or whatever cheese around at least once a day, is this a good snack to be having? (about half the time I snack on them later at night)

Cut out that lunch meat. It's not good for you. Cheese has fat in it. Are you bulking or cutting? Anyways, good job on the low carbing in the evenings, thats a good strategy.

Yea, ive been on a low-no carb diet for months now, lose about 60 lbs. and am down to 170 lbs. As far as bulking or cuttin, i dont think im bulking after losing all that weight. Mostly trying to cut.

Lunch meat has Nitrates in it, which are associated with Heart problems and diabetes. Nitrate-free lunchmeat is healthy though. The only problem with it is that its expensive and doesnt last too long due to no nitrates to perserve it.

As far as cheese - there are much healthier sources of fats to snack on. Macadamia nuts and Unsalted Shelled peanuts (Unshell them yourself) are two of my favorites.

WEll usually when I snack, I just try to get protein in, I know nuts have some protein in them, but not as much as the meats and cheese, or at least I think.

I hate cottage cheese too so what I do is mix it in the blender with Davinci SF syrup, skim milk (sometimes water), some fruit, and protein powder. It takes the flavor and texture out of the cottage cheese and you still get the quality protein. It's my before bed meal.

I normally have a glass of low fat milk, which to my understanding has "cassein protein" in it, and apparently this is released slowly so that your body gets a steady supply of protein whilst you sleep?

Please let me know if I'm wrong!

Thats true however, I prefer a whey/casien protein powder mix that you can pick up from most health stores. It has the casien protein from milk without the high sugar =)
