pre-workout - fruit ok?

I realized that I'm not getting ANY fruit in my diet. This bothers me. I was considering replace my pre-workout oatmeal with a cup of mixed fruit or an orange or something.

Is there any reason I shouldn't do this?
How much fruit do you guys eat and when do you eat it?

Just checking with my fitness gurus

Thanks,
Z-

I eat zero fruit...and having it before a workout to me wouldnt be a good idea. Sugar before lifting...dont think that will go well.

What if it's before cardio, would that be more tolerable?

The sugar in fruit isn't going to hurt you. Go for it. Eat some after too if you want. Fruit is GOOD for you. The GI for most fruit is around half that of sugar. Eating an apple or an orange is NOT the same thing as eating pure sugar.

I usually eat one piece. One apple, one banana, one orange, one pear, or whatever. Check calorieking for the average nutrition facts on raw fruits, and you can take that info to determine how much you want to add to a meal.

i love fruit and i eat it whenever i can - the more brightly-coloured, the better, and i always eat blueberries as much as possible for the antioxidant and cleansing benefits.

Fruit is not only tasty, it's definitely good for you. Fruit eaten pre-workout should certainly not be a problem. Rather than replace your oatmeal with fruit, why not ADD fruit to your oatmeal. I like raisins and dried cranberries. Lady C had blueberries in her oatmeal this morning.

Especially bananna's...if your doiing cardio like you said, Bananas would be great. Of course, now that I'm posting I drew a blank and can't remember what it's called. But Bananas carry a substance in them that really help you with cramps and so forth. It's great stuff!

Cursor, you beat me to the punch!! :
I love adding a banana to my oatmeal. I have found a pre-workout meal that really hooks me up:
1/2 cup oatmeal with cinammon, Splenda, and 1/2 large banana or 1 small banana on top of a piece of whole wheat low-carb bread. I also drink one liter of water in the two hours before my workout.
This pre-workout meal really hooks me up and I have better workouts now. I don't know if it's coincidence. I just know that I have experimented over the last year with a pre-workout meal and this works best for me.
If I have this meal pre-cardio, then I have another banana post-cardio. There's two pieces of fruit for you right there :
