if its your first meal of the day i whould drink a shake of protein and simple carbs i know you said no shakes but if you workout in the morning then your gonna wanna have something that digest quickly in your stomach. you can drink shakes pre and post workout

if this first meal is going to be your breakfeast, have something decent and filling. Try oatmeal seeing your going to need protein aswell as carbs. Check out cursors recipie section for great recipies. http://www.discussfitness.com/forums/showthread.php?t=5507

If not oatmeal, eat a bowl of healthy cerial which has decent amounts of protein or have toast with eggwhites, just make sure your getting plenty of protein and carbs in one way or another. My advice....go with the oatmeal, goodluck
