seeking diet advice (surprise!?)
Hello there,
any advice would great!
I'm 6'2, just under 13stone. I would like to lose some weight and tone up my stomach. I jog every other day and do ab crunches and think I look healthy apart from a ring around the stomach. Maybe need to lose fat, because I think i've quite abit of muscle there...
I'm a vegetarian and always have been and used to eat well, but have gone a bit crazy, not eating pasta or bread to try lose weight. Would a protein diet be good?(aka Atkins)
Just need to lose some fat and firm up my body so what sport could I do? Thinking about Yoga?
Any advice appreciated, nice to know we're not alone!

If you are not even 13 i definetely would not recomend the atkins diet for you. DON'T DO IT. There are much healthier ways, pick something and stick to it. Lower your calories and just watch out for junk food, white bread, pasta, and in general processed carbs. At 12, which is what you are i think, don't worry about what you eat man. If you are really serious about getting into shape, pick a diet that you can stick with, not something that you will stop in a month when you lose the pounds(such as the atkins). Keep doing those crunches, and cardio.

Hi heuye-
Your best bet is to begin resistance (weight) training of some sort in addition to your running (different days, though). Weight training will increase your metabolism quite nicely, while running will help speed up your progress to a slimmer physique.
Other than increasing your activity level, you'll need to reduce your caloric intake to a level that is just slightly below your body's maintenance level.
With a sound diet, you won't need to do so much running to burn that fat. The saying: "Abs are made in the kitchen" is very true......
Post your dietary info (foods you eat regularly, how many calories, how many meals per day, etc) and one of us may be able to help you further.
