Sushi: Good or bad?
Ive read elsewhere that sushi such as tuna/salmon, is absolutely great for you (I love it). However, recently I came across an article that explained alot of the rice in sushi is high in all sorts of sugars which may make it something you want to avoid. Any opinions on this? Thank you!

Oh my gosh I am in Sushi heaven!
Is Southern Tsunami the same co. that make the sushi at the local grocery stores, like H-E-B?? I need to look at this further I wonder if I can eat sushi everyday . . maybe not the fish, but like veggie rolls, california rolls etc. etc.

I love sashimi and Nigiri sushi the best in general (Specifically Ebi and Unagi). I like Maki Sushi but not as much as the others.

No, that's not exactly the case. The criticism of sushi centers around the fact that white rice is a simple carb. That doesn't mean it's high in sugar (it's not), it means that it is relatively quickly and easily converted to glucose ( blood sugar, basically) by the body.
As a general rule it's better to choose complex carbs over simple carbs but as long as you don't overdo it (and who the hell can afford to overdo sushi on a regular basis anyway ) it's really not a problem at all.

I make sushi at home and every recipe I see and have for the rice is loaded with sugar. I cut the sugar down to about 1/8 of the amount.
but if you go out have sashimi (sp) fish with out the rice.

Refined White rice is a complex carb? I thought it was simple and Brown rice was the Complex one.

Rice is complex regardless of the type. This doesnt mean all rice is healthy, it just means that all rice is a complex carb. Simple carbs are sugars (Fructose, Dextrose, etc..)

There are different grades of "complex", white flour is a starch, and thus a complex carb but it is ~100 on the GI, same as a simple sugar. Brown rice is in general more complex than white rice, it has a greater nutrient profile and is slower to digest. Note how you cook it effects thie greatly. With both rices you would want to cook and/or serve them with fat/mrptein to slow down the digestion and provide a balanced meal.
