To those who do evening workouts..


Just curious if those of you who do your workouts in the evening still do a high simple carb, protein shake after your workouts and then eat a sizeable dinner before bed?

The reason i ask is when i get a job its more than likely going to be a morning job which means my workouts will move to evenings. I am hesitant about making my largest meal of the day my last as far as gaining fat. Also the whole eating a large complex carb meal about an hour before is difficult to do.

Does anyone do this with success? What are your all's opinions?

Yes! Regardless of when I train, I ALWAYS consume a post-workout meal consisting of carbs and protein immediately afterward. Personally, I train in the evenings after work. I'm finished training by about 7 p.m., I slam down my post-workout shake as I'm driving home. Then, I eat a whole-food meal about 9:30 consisting of just protein and vegetables (no starchy carbs).

I train in the evening as well. I consume protein and simple carbs right after. Then 30-45 minutes later I'll eat a dinner, but it's not my last meal. I go to bed kind of late due to my schedule so I don't have a bunch of carbs in my system right before bed.

Why are you going to get fat if you eat carbs at night? How is this different? Someone fill me in.

Well, when you ea carbs late at night you might not burn them off and therefore they could turn into fat deposits.

I have discovered from testing on myself that if i eat carbs late at night it tends to become fat. I didn't start losing any weight (THis was a year ago or so when i started dieting) until i stopped eating carbs after a certain point (For me it was about 3 hours before bedtime is what i have found to work)

When i stopped this and went back to eating carbs late night, I started packing on the fat again
