thanks CF-OC Gal! I appreciate it!

..I never excepted to be "accepted" for my food choices. I have had to deal with that the past 6 months of eating healthy for a new lifestyle. To me, though, it's not about acceptance. It doesn't bother me if others look at me different, because it doesn't affect me. People are individuals for a reason and this will just add to my already abundance of independence!

Well from one vegetarian to another, congrats on the decision to be different. I get a lot of crap for it too.

I've been absent for quite awhile - just checking in and noticed your post.

So Sweetdream - how has your vegetarian experiment gone? I started with a goal of going vegetarian for 6 months and then went vegan. That was over a decade ago. The only consequence is that I feel great, lost a lot of weight and regained my health. Conventional wisdom is that I should be dead by now. When you go veg you save 3 lives: the animal, the planet and your own.

I have been pescetarian since January 15th, 2008 and it's going great. I do get the occasional smell of a dead carcass dinner at my boyfriends or left overs from home and think how easy it was to get protein back them but I will NEVER go back to eating meat.

it's a challenge and I know it will take even more steps to stop eating fish which I am actually getting kind of concerned that I eat too much. I am still learning and have been taking on a lot of other things in my life as well so it's hard to keep researching but I know it's something I need to get back on track with.

i have gotten a lot of frowns about it but I do feel great and being into fitness and learning is helping me stay alive for I am sure I should be dead soon too because I don't eat meat :roll some people have very strange theories! hahaha

TUNAS DO HAVE FEELINGS
(With Apologies to Morris Albert)

Feelings, tunas have more feelings,
trying to forget my reeling in the boat.
Fighting, the hook is caught in my face,
trying to forget my feelings of pain.
Feelings, at the end of life I'll feel it.
I wish I've never ate that bait; it's herring once again.
Feelings, wo-o-o feelings,
wo-o-o, I'm growing numb of feelings.
I wish that you'd have lost me mate,
and feelings like I'm ready to be ate.
Feelings, for in the can I'll feel it.
I wish I've never ate that bait; it's herring once again.
Feelings, feelings like I'm in a pan,
and feelings with noodles and a mushroom can. Feelings, wo-o-o feelings,
wo-o-o, tuna's do have feelings.
Feelings...(repeat & fade)

My wife and I have been lacto-ovo vegetarian since 1960. It's no big deal. You are just eating food firsthand rather than it being recycled through an animal. Of course dairy and eggs are second hand. If there is a tiny piece of meat in something I can tell immediately as it tastes sour.
Also there are vegan bodybuilding sites with some pretty fit people.

Whatever your diet you have to be knowledgable. The vegetarian diet is not on trial but diet can sometimes, like religion and politics become an emotional subject

I have tried to go vegan once and vegetarian 3 times. The turning point for me the first time was watching some PETA videos which left me crying hysterically. I managed to keep up with the vegan lifestyle for a couple of months. It became very difficult for me so I tried vegetarian. I have been on and off of this thing for a while now. It's hard to stick to because I grew up in a family of hardcore meat eaters. My dad has 4 BBQ pits and takes his BBQ very seriously. Even though I love meat.....in the back of my mind and in my heart I feel sooo bad about eating the cute little animals. Anyways....for you vegans and vegetarians, I don't know if you're aware of this site or not (you probably are) but this website has really helped me. There are TONS of awesome recipes here. vegweb.com I'm still not totally vegetarian but I still eat a lot of vegetarian meals. My husband even loves a lot of these meals and he's a total carnivore.

I dabbled in vegetarianism for a few weeks, but I'm too much of a carnivore for it to stick. I'm glad I did it, though, if for no other reason than gaining a better knowledge of how to pair vegetarian food sources to make complete proteins. I now eat less meat which makes my extremely animal conscious wife happy as well as making me happy by reducing food preparation time and grocery costs.

Even if you have no intention of being completely vegetarian, I highly suggest a little research on the topic anyway. Who was I kidding, steak is in my top 3 favorite things in the world, wrestling for position against jack daniels and well, my wife, but don't tell her that.
