What's unhealthy about the yolk?
As I'm sitting here squeezing the yolk out of my hardboiled eggs, I'm wondering...what IS unhealthy about eating the yolk? Why eat only the whites? I'll admit sometimes I sneak and eat a yolk now and then.

The old thinking about the yolks being bad comes from the high cholesterol content. Newer evidence shows that genetics play the main role in a persons cholesterol sensitivity. A dr.s' visit for some blood tests can determine this.

nothing unhealthy about the yolk at all. of the fat in them, only 1gr is saturated. the rest is very healthy and the yolk is also rich in linoleic acid, which is a lipotrope (helps burn fat).

Yolks aren't bad. I lost 160 lb of fat while eating 4-6 eggs a day yolks included. Right now, the only reason I skip 3 of the 4 yolks is the sheer volume of food I'm eating right now. To get the extra protein in, I have to skip the yolks because the fat is so filling and slows the time to onset of hunger again. If you like 'em - eat 'em.

lots more protein in hte whole egg - i don't wait for the onset of hunger; i eat by the clock. sometimes i'm hungry an hour later, sometimes i'm not hungry yet, but i eat every three hours.

Egg yolk
Cholestrol is mainly gathered in the yolk of the egg which is nearly 215 milligrams in quantity.
I would recommend to limit the intake dietary cholesterol to 300 mg per day or 200 mg a day if you have high blood cholesterol.Limit it to 2-3 eggs per week. The better option is to shun the cosumption of yolk. Consuming two eggs whites is equal to one whole egg.
Check out what i got.

but you missed the point: in a healthy individual with no cholesterol issues, dietary consumption of cholesterol has no effect on blood lipid levels.
i eat 4 to 6 eggs per day and my cholesterol levels, last time i was tested a month ago, were very low.

Sounds like reasonable information - except that whole eating them raw is best thing. That's just nasty. I think I'll keep eating my 28 cooked eggs a week. I'm only eating 7 yolks a week though.

Again most people around here stick to the 4:1 ratio but have any chronic egg eater had there cholesterol checked? I myself eat around 20 yoks/week (80 whites) and have for years, kind of curious what my cholesterol is?

At the end of 2003, mine was lethally high. Now all my numbers are perfect - since I started eating more fat.
