Why does my bread have mold on it?!


So I've been eating these yummy sprouted 7-grain rolls from Trader Joes lately. Well I just opened up the bag this morning to find every roll all green and white with mold :confused: The sell-by date is tomorrow! It really stinks because I had to throw them out. I'm happy I've found a bread that is so low carb but now I'm scared to buy them again because I can't afford to throw food out (I'm really broke). Any ideas on why they might've gotten moldy? I kept them wrapped up pretty well too.

Oh, and is there any danger in eating bread that has a little bit of mold on it? Just wondering for future reference

Would you eat bread that had a little bit of Ebola on it? Seems a lot safer to ditch it.

In hotter weather the bread molds faster because it doesn't have all the preservatives. Two choices: freeze half for later or store the bread in the fridge. Both are not as fresh but you don't waste food.

Something wrong with bread.
TJs will refund money if you take the moldy bread back. Bread company needs to know something is wrong.
I store bread in fridge.
LadyC, isnt less spoilage => more fresh :confused:

Less spoilage might be considered fresh. Storage in fridge makes it dry out, to me, less fresh.

If you want lower carb bread, check out the Sara Lee Brand at the grocery store. Get the one that has a 9g carbs label on the end of the bag. If you actually count the carbs and subtract the fiber the net carbs are only 7. It's not 100% whole wheat and has some preservatives. The wheat and the white are both pretty good.

I read that you dont' store bread in the refrigerator, but inside the freezer You can preslice the bread so that you just take out to thaw the ones you're gonna eat.

Whenever i bake bread, i always put them in the freezer (sealed inside a plastic) they lasts for a month or 2

the best bread is milton's healthy whole grain. it's only 90 calories per slice and each one has 5g of fiber.

You're going to love this bread welch.... Trader Joes Sprouted Wheat Bread: 1 gram fat, 7 grams total carbs, 3 grams fiber, net carbs 4 grams, 5 grams protein.

It too has some wheat flour in it, but it's mostly whole grain wheat sprouts, and tastes really good! It actually has more protein than digestible carbs, too. For a lower carb, higher fat meal towards the end of the day, I'll make peanut butter or cheese sandwiches with it and (of course) some other veggies. I LOVE this bread.
