Thanks man, I do not think i have gained any size but i sure feel better due to wrestling and have gotten overall much healthier. Before the tanita scale said i was at 29.6% bf, now on the schools tanita bf scale i am at around 22.

EDIT: There's is not a tanita, i forgot. It's something a bit cheaper but i think it's still just as good.

If you're weighing in at 210 I take it you're wrestling 215? How does your strength stack up against the other 215 pounders?

Last match i wrestled i felt pretty strong. I was stronger than both of the guys that i wrestled. One was like 6'0 and kind flabby though. The other guy was my height but i think towards the lighter end of the spectrum. The guy who is on varsity in the 215 class is a bit stronger than me though. He can bench 300 but he jumped a weight class accidentally so i may have to wrestle for varsity. When i wrestle him though i feel pretty even in strength, besides the fact that he has been wrestling longer and is better.

I imagine not using Squat in your routine isn't as detrimental to folkstyle wrestling as opposed to freestyle... do you ever wrestle freestyle? That's where I excel, I throw the 189 pounder and he outweighs me by almost 30 pounds. It helps having really low BF % though. Good luck this season!

Excuse my ignorance but what's the difference between folk and freestyle? The season is almost over sadly. Less than 2 months are left unless we go to state then it's just about 2 months.

Thanks Lee and Jackal, it's inspiring to hear all these comments. Can't wait till i get my weights in for my squat rack and bench. Yea i have been beating the hell out of my lats lately, thats what i notice is the biggest improvement, through my eyes anyways. I still have same measurements more or less but i am much stronger overall.

I have been training not too much differently than i used to, the only thing i changed was i added some olympic lifts and began doing strength training. So i will for example do 3 sets of 10 for bench, then will turn up the weight and do 2 more sets of 4. I also have incorporated some conjugated periodization into my routine, so on the later half of the week i usually focus mainly on strength. Monday/wed on bb, friday/sunday on strength. (only problem with this is that i sometimes train even on days that i designate to rest) I have stopped training to failure, except if i am doing my last set or something similar, so this may explain why i can work more often. My bench numbers are still unknown because i use the bench at my closest gym and don't know how much the bar weighs. When i get my bar and weights i will truely know my maxes.

Wow that was a mouthful, keep the comments coming though, my main goal is to have strength and size so give me your comments on what could be done to make myself look more in proportion or better.

good job, getting a lot leaner, are you doing any cardio?

the bench press bar most likely weighs 45 lbs at your gym

Freestyle is similar to the "Folkstyle" wrestling, but with different scoring, match procedures, and strategies. Freestyle and Greco-Roman place little emphasis on control, while Folkstyle, control is very important. In Freestyle, wrestlers are brought to their feet after about 15 seconds of no scoring. Since control isn't important, the bottom wrestler isn't expected to do anything but stall.

That's the main difference. I like freestyle because it's more physical in that you can just pick your opponent up and throw them across the mat and not have to think twice about how that will affect your score (your score will go up!). Folkstyle is all about control and there risky moves are big no-no's.

When I was a freshman in highschool our state champ senior 215 pounder actually picked another kid up and power bombed him (that's right, a WWF move). It was great

That sounds cool. I wish my school had wrestling or powerlifting. Wrestlers dominate in UFC, and you young punks have free lessons.
