mkdevo

hello all,

been lurking here for a couple weeks, and i just wanna say congratulations to all of you on your fine work and dedication! keep it up!!

this thread in particular has been quite an inspiration for me, so i've decided to kick things into high gear myself. i just started guerilla cardio last week (will be doing the full 8 weeks), and also started watching what i'm eating. i took some 'before' pictures so i can compare them with the end result. my bio, pictures, and workout routines can be found HERE.

please check it out and let me know what you think. i know you guys are great with pointing out what needs improvement, and that's exactly what i'm looking for! thanks a lot!

That looks great.

We are about the same height and your weight now is my aim. We are approaching that weight from opposite sides though. I am presently 155lbs (up from 140lbs last year) and working on getting to the magic 170.

Well done again.

Thumbs up

thanks guys!

like i said, i'm really happy with what i've done muscular-wise over the last 3 years, but the gut never left the building. for me, that's always been the hardest part, so this is really a challenge for me.

i'm gonna be taking pictures every sunday and posting them there. i will let you all know when i update. thanks for the feedback, and please keep it coming!

mkdevo, you have developed some solid arms, man. Your chest and traps look like they may be lagging behind them a bit.

I think if you can shed about 10 pounds, you will look really good.

agreed about the chest and traps. definitely two of my main concentration areas at this point, as well as legs where muscle is concerned.. i was doing really good with chest for a while, then kind of dropped off for a while, and it shows. but part of my new mindset is that i don't want to lag on anything anymore. no more skipping any given muscle group from week to week.

speaking of chest (and i know this isn't really the right forum for this question, but since we're talking about it...), i definitely feel like i need to develop my upper chest more than anything else at this point.. but say i start off with incline dumbbell presses - after 3-4 sets of heavy weight, i go to flat bench DB presses, and my chest feels completely depleted. i'm talking about putting up 20lbs less (per DB) than if i had started with flat.. and then by my 3rd set, i just have nothing left and can't increase the weight anymore...

now, i know i'm not gonna be as strong mid-workout as i am at the beginning, but this just seems like a BIG depletion.. same thing happens if i start with flat and then go to incline... any ideas?

Maybe you need more rest between sets, or maybe your upper chest is weaker then your lower. . Don't begin again another set until you feel you can complete one.

You're probably doing too many sets. 3-4 heavy sets sounds like too much. All you really need is 1-2 heavy sets. Try putting your heavy sets to 1-2 and try that out.
