Ready to bulk?

Hi everyone

I've posted some current pics of me. I've recently been on a cutting phase, in the hoping of bringing out the elusive 6 pack. I'm 5'11" and currently 152lbs. My abs show well when they're flexed but dont show individually when relaxed. I'm thinking of cutting for another couple of weeks to just try and bring them out a little more. Don't know my bf percentage, any ideas?

I've been following a 1800 calorie a day diet (I have weekends off tho!) for about 3 months which has resulted in a weight loss of about 10lbs and reduction in waist size of nearly 2", but I think I've lost some upper body muscle in the process.

Workoutwise I've been doing a full body workout 2 or 3 times a week, also been doing cardio, trying to stick to HIIT based stuff a couple of times a week too.

I'd like to put on some muscle now, but keep as lean as possible and would welcome any comments/tips as to diet, calorie intake, workout strategies etc? Should I stick with full body workouts or employ a split routine?

All comments welcome

I am going to bulk this winter after my back gets better and I am going to use a weight gainer, you may want to look into something like that. It helps you get more calories in a little bit easier. Good luck with the bulking

i have been out of protein powder for about a month. I have just been packing a peice of chicken and fish sticks with me for my post workout meal. It is alot more inconvenient this way, but does it realy matter if you get a protein shake or solid food after a workout?

It really depends on the intensity of your workout and the depletion of your body's resources. I know bodybuilders who NEVER have high glycemic, post-workout shakes. In fact, some of them never supplement with protein powders.

Just make sure that you take in enough clean calories to support your efforts in the gym, but not too many that you add on extra unwanted fat along with your lean mass. It's a fine line that only you can carefully experiment with to find your threshold...your medium that allows you to gain new lean muscle without too much added fat. It is possible with a closely monitored diet.

I thought of adding 200 calories to my diet every week or maybe 2 weeks and at the same time monitoring my weight and waistline carefully to see what intake I really need to add lean muscle bulk. At the same time keeping the food intake spread over the day and keeping the diet as clean as possible.

I'm thinking of keeping the HIIT in my workout, but doing it on seperate days from the weights. To minise muscle loss from the cardio am I right in thinking I need to take in some protein rich food about an hour before and the cardio and some carbs straight away afterwards?

Also planning to incorpoate some whey protein drinks in into the plan and presumably the optimum time for these would be just after my weight training

Any thoughts on all that?
