1st place gets a new car if there are a minimum of 15 pro entrants into the Natural Olympia, which is the most prestigious show within the INBA. See this year's comments from the INBA website below. Basically 1st, 2nd and 3rd get cash/prizes, along with a gold, silver, or bronze medallion...and the other prizes (swords, jackets, rings, etc) that I mentioned in my above posts. You also get bragging rights of being Natural Mr O!
"We regret to inform the athletes of the PNBA/INBA that the car that was advertised to be given out to the first place winner at the Natural Olympia under the condition that 15 athletes be registered by the deadline was not met.We will still award cash and prizes and we look forward to give a car next year!"
"We look forward to offering the Professional Competitors a
New Car for the 2006 Natural Olympia to be held in Las Vegas, Nevada!"

Thanks MM. I start my show prep at the end of June. Show date is right around Sept 24th. So that will give me 3 months of slow dieting, where I will take things a lot more gradually allowing me to lose 1 pound per week. Nice and slow is how it will be this time to ensure fat loss with very minimal muscle loss. If my body fat stays where it is now till the end of June, then I will only have to drop about 15 pounds total for show time. (I dropped 22 last time).
And the cool thing about the INBA, they don't go by weight classes, it's done by height! So, if I come in between 195 and 205ish+, then I may do some real damage. Have to wait and see. So far no injuries and my strength continues to increase. Just having some good offseason fun!
How are your gains coming along? You at 220 yet???

Nothing like seeing some of these pics to make us mere mortals feel small and weak.
Damn good work you are doing.

The high reps allow you to burn more calories while lifting. You are basically turning your weight lifting routine into almost an aerobic workout while still doing some resistence to preserve mass. Dieting and cardio alone for a contest can be enough, however, you will find once you start getting below 7 percent bodyfat it is EXTREMELY difficult to lose more fat. Your body clings to it. I find that if I up my reps, lower my rest between sets, my heart is pumping and I am burning serious calories before I even hit the cardio.
Some people are different. Some folks are genetic freaks, and they can achieve 4-5 percent bodyfat on diet and cardio alone. I am/was never this way. I had to alter my training as well to help me get the last few percent of body fat decrease before competition. If you can achieve what you feel is necessary without altering your training, more power to you. However, if you start struggling to lose the last few percent of bodyfat, I would recommend my method. Just throwing out some suggestions.

A lot of people follow this but i dont see any practical logic behind it. Cutting is done in the kitchen not the weight room. When cutting one is in a calorie deficit for a long period of time what makes it successful is to selectively lose fat over muscle. By sticking with heavy weights the body continues to use its nutrient to maintain muscle mass and thus fat is burnt off. By decreasing the weight there is not enough need for the muscle mass so this is not maintained and we head towards conversions to oxidative type fibres commonly seen in endurance athletes.

I agree 100%. There is no need to change one's training when dieting down. It's simply a matter of keeping things heavy to promote as much muscle growth as possible (or at least maintain what you have as a bare minimum), while stripping off the fat via careful calorie manipulation and cardio (if needed).

Dude, what are those little, things in the the picture right below your quads? Oh, those are your knee caps! They look like they are under attack!
Looks awesome man. Pics from a guy who "was", and I stress "was", a self-proclaimed lower body neglecter. You'd never know it with those wheels.
