3xcardio and 2xweights or 3weights and 2xcardio

So im trying to loose about 5 pounds before july when i go on holiday (its that last little bit of fat that's still hanging on in there!) and im wondering if i should concentrate on cardio more i.e. increase it to three days a week (instead of two) and decrease the number of days i lift i.e. down from three days to two?

How is your intensity? When you do cardio can you give the whole Gettysburg Address or just speak in short sentences? When you lift, are you lifting heavy enough that the last rep or two are hard?

If you've been doing the same routine for a while, switching things up might help you mentally keep your focus and intensity up.

Another option might be to increase the time for each cardio workout, e.g. if you do 20 minutes per workout, try pushing it to 30 minutes.

Or if you can stomach it, try increasing the intensity of your cardio, for example if you normally run on the treadmill at 5 mph, try bumping up the speed to 6 mph.

My cardio is swimming-running's difficult for me because i have a sided stitch that refuses to heal, but to answer your question, yes my intensity it high, in both my cardio and weights, i could probably up the the intensity more on the cardio.

that's always my aim, doesn't always happen but i do try for that.

i swim for about 40/50mins twice a week, 3x front crawl then 2xbreast stroke, and i usually get up to 60laps of a 25m swimming pool.

Just be sure to increase the weight (or the reps or the tempo) when it's no longer hard.

If you are really going at it with major, serious, pedal to the metal intensity 4-5 times a week, and you still can't lose weight, then it's your diet.

What's a regular day of eating for you?
