I just bought....

new weights (10 pounders)......are 10 pound weights better? I mean yeah obviously they're better than 5 pound weights but I wanna know if the 10 pounders will help me tone my arms? I just hope they're not too heavy and I end up getting huge muscles that would suck

Well this is a new one. How big your arms grow will not be dependant upon what weights you lift to a certain degree, you can gain strength without encountering massive growth by cns stimulation. So I wouldn't worry, 10lbs isn't going to give you 20inch arms any time soon anyhow, so your cool. Make sure you eat correctly if your looking to slim that fat off, or 'tone'

I don't want this to sound to brash, but it is really hard to get some women to realize that using weights will not make them big. If you don't believe me try this link regarding women weight training myths or this one more myths.

10 lbs is doubtful, maybe once you're doing like 60+ in each hand...10 might help tone a little but I doubt you'll grow much from it unless you continue to higher weights...

Seriously though, hit those weights...can only help and will probably only make you look better. Most of the big big bulky women you see that almost look like transgendered men are very likely taking some form of steroid or other testosterone boosters...

As for that link I hope they aren't chalking all the bodybuilder's physiques up to genetics...

Hehe 10 pd dumbbells. I've seen heavier running weights j/k (well actually i have but...) No you don't need to worry about getting huge off of 10 pound dumbells. I doubt you could even get 12 inch arms with 10 pound dumbbells. I've seen some of my guy friends that are skinny with like 13 inch arms that can work with 30's and 40's for curls, yet their arms are so small... you have nothing to worry about, trust me.

Juliann, you do what you can! I'm glad to hear you are getting it started!
Guys laugh at our usage of 10 lb weights but most would feel awful insecure if we pumped more than they could

Short of gear use, we will NOT ever bulk up and look like a man, or lose our feminity but will look awsome none the less. Lift the heaviest that you can lift with proper form, eat well and clean - you'll look beautiful
