Can I loose weight by just walking and eating right?

I am a 29 year old female that needs to loose about 20-25lbs. Now I am unable to get to the gym on a regular so I walk around my neighborhood and that is about 2 miles. Is it possible for me to loose the weight I want walking, running and eating right?

It is possible but it will be slow results. The only way one can lose bodyfat (don't confuse with scale weight) is to intake less calories than you burn. The body is an amazing thing and it will adjust to those 2 miles quickly. You will either have to increase the miles or the intensity (run instead of walk) to continue to see results.

Of course you can.......you just gotta experiment and see what you body wants and likes so that you can set up a workout routine and diet routine. Search around on this site.......youll find so much great info on here. Check out the journals section on this site.......theres so much info on this site.

In my neighborhood there is a series of hills that I don't run up, but I am going to start. Now I am thinking about a 1200 calorie diet. My problem is finding out how much fat and sugar that I should intake on a daily. Sweets are a big issue for me, but I must say that I have cut waaaaaaaaaay back on the cakes. My birthday was this past saturday and I didn't even buy a cake :.

1200 calories may be too low. What are your stats (height, weight, bodyfat and goals)? Eating too low of calories is counterproductive.

I suggest doing a food log for at least 4 days. Don't change anything during this time. Then you will need to add up the total calories (protein, carbs, fat). Places like Fitday.com can do some of this for you. Based on your food logging you will be able to make EDUCATED decisions about what to change and by how much.

Oh by the way - Take it easy on the font size.

Sorry about the font hadn't learned how it worked yet. I am 5'4" 166 BMI 33%. Looking at those stats you would think that I am short and fat. I am made up funny I have a small waist, but the boobs aren't small so they make me feel fat. I can stand to loose 20lbs. I am trying to lose this weight by the end of Sept I am just not sure how to go about it.

Well, I am similar stats here. By setting up a detailed plan, both nutrition and workout, you will be able to transform your body in no time.

Boobs unfortunately are where fat collects. By changing bodyfat composition (scale weight may not change) you will look and feel terrific. At 166 you may see some scale weight drop in the beginning. When it levels off don't get discouraged, if you are still working hard, the body is transforming.

The food logging experience is real eye opening for most people. It also helps establish where you are now so it is easy to see where to make changes. Do this first then we can talk about workout and what to change.

Anyway I can help - let me know!
