can't get the weight off my abs!

background: I'm 16, I've been weight lifting for 2 years, so my body is very toned, and looks great. But I've forgotten the aerobic part of working out, so I've slowly for the past 3 months I've been running more and more(I'm up to 2 1/2 mi). The running has helped my thighs, but not my torso.

My Question: What can I do to help get the exact weight of my stomach and lower back area?

thanks,
Katie

You could try weighted crunches... I find that these give me a great ab workout.. and I can feel them tightening up after only a week....

Basically.. you get one of those balls filled with air (what ARE those called?) and sit on it.... grab a dumbell, hold it up to your upper chest with both hands and lie back on the ball so that you are neally flat from your knees up... only your back should be slightly supported on the ball. Start with a wide stance and do 10 crunches... on the 10th crunch, you should be feeling the burn in the ab area.... Rest for a minute or so and then start again... do 3-5 sets in total.

I was told this by someone else and didn't think it would work, but then I tried it and wow... talk about B-U-R-N!

Anyway... when you get better, you can put your feet closer together... that means you have to concentrate on balance too, and will improve your results...

Hope this helps.

OMG!!!

I didn't say I had great abs.. I said it gives me a great ab workout....

I'm trying to work down to a stage where my abs will be visible..... (maybe... just maybe.)

Lee: I've only got the pic on a magazine, but I've found something that might help....

[ Start ] [ Finish ]

Don't be afraid to use quite a heavy weight.. Your abs are quite big muscles....

BTW.. that's me in the pictures.... LOOOOOOOL NOT!

Also... good link to ab workout movies.... Ab Workouts

Ps. Great FAQ about getting abs.. I think... ABS! Finish

That's me done...

Nijm, you need a combination of a clean eating program, cardio and ab exercises. Don't forget balance. If you're training abs, you need to train lower back as well.

I agree... I used to work out about 7 years ago for about 2 years and I used to go and work as hard as I could (even more than now), but I didn't lose fat or gain much muscle... When I started back on it (not log ago), I integrated a proper diet and I've lost 3% BF since I last measured and I've gained 1inch on my upper chest.... My abs seem to be getting a little more visible too...

It's hard, but if you work right, it'll be worth it.

My body fat % is 14.1 (or around there..) and I'm wondering how to lower it to 13 to 12%? Can anyone guide me to a good example of a good diet to lower my body fat%?

Well there is a number of ways .. not just diet, you can try Xen, or LS7 metabolisers to burn the fat off, but this does need a controlled diet. Or you could try a diet and lifiting routine to burn it up, or you could put all 3 together. Take a look around the journals and the diet forums for ideas on how to put the best diet together for you, if your still stuck when the others help as well, you can e-mail me with what you would most like to eat in a day and i will help you.

so Xen or LS7 are the best fat burners? Once you loose the fat can you stop taking the fat burner and not gain the weight back (but still eat a controlled diet and lift?)

Thanks

They are not nessercerily the best, and they will by no means get on with your body im afraid with all fat burners its a case of trial and error, although be very careful some can cause harm. I made special reference to these two burners as myself and a great mate dave are writing diary's on both these fat burners so you may want to check out for yourself what me and dave have found out so far .. you can fine them in the Workout Journals forum. Your next question about being able to keep the weight off and stop using them ... this is precisily what they are made for, they are made for you to do a cycle of the product .. normally no more than 4 weeks at a time, after which you stop usage and there you go hopefully you have lost that stubburn weight .. now the next idea of burners is that they have took away the weight and so it is your job to keep it off, and providing you have a controlled diet and workout plan then this will prove no problem at all.

You HAVE to get rid of the fat for the abs to show, period!!! You can have great abs and nobody will ever know if they can't see them for the fat.

I think that diet is key is having a six pack. No diet, no six pack!!! haha
