Ddr

I'm sure everyone has heard of the game called dance dance revolution. What does everyone think of it? Do you think that it would be good to do for training over the winter since it's harder to run outside?

DDR is a pretty good workout- short, but very high intensity. you can also do it for long periods of time, and im sure its pretty tough. I dont usually do more than a three to five songs in a row.
I know a guy who was not very physically active, started DDR, got addicted, lost 20 pounds, stopped playing DDR, and gained it back.
I would do it all the time, but its too high-impact for me.

i LOVE ddr!!!!!

and yes, it's a very effective cardio workout. make sure you have a good, springy floor because doing it on a cement basement floor plays merry havoc with the knees and feet.

you know you can download a free version for the computer, right? it doesn't have a pad, so it's strictly honour system, but it's still the same brutal workout. my daughter lives up north and does it a lot on the home computer (one hour a day minimum) - i told her to ask my ex to build her a wooden floor with a support brace so she doesn't destroy her feet and knees dancing on cold cement.

I wouldnt care to comment on the DDR benefits, but I would say that theres nothing you can do in the summer that you cant do in the winter too - you just have to dress appropriately

yup - i remember cross-country skiing 15km to town because i wanted a corned beef sub once. i started out properly dressed, but as i heated up, ended up cruising along the highway in shorts and tee-shirt. the coat, snowpants, trackpants, long-johns, cardigan, sweater, etc were just too much to carry, so i figured i'd leave them in a strategic location for pickup on the way back. when i got to town, i stopped at a payphone to let the house know i'd made it safely - and suddenly realized i was standing outside, soaked in sweat, wearing nothing but shorts, shirt, hat, and mitts, at minus 24C.

rule is: keep your clothes with you.
