Dizzy after cardio

The last couple of times I did cardio @ the gym I was really dizzy when I was finished. Then I read an article that said something about too much water...now I feel like some kind of hypochondriac or something.
Well, I possibly overdid it the last couple of times I kept going for 90 minutes, it was like I didn't want to stop, I was just feeling so great.

Well, my question is what could cause a person to get dizzy afterwards? Can't be lack of water, I drink TONS of water every day, I'm starting to worry I drink too much!

Did anyone else ever get dizzy afterwards?

Feeling kinda worried over here....

Don't worry too much. Where is your heart rate at during the cardio? You might not be getting enough blood to your brain or training too hard. Just find out when you start to feel that way and then back off a little bit.

Thanks for replying Firehawk.
I have no idea what my heart rate is, am I supposed to be checking my pulse during? I never do, but my breathing is controlled during cardio.

I don't feel dizzy at all while I'm exercising, its right when I stop....

????????? What do you think?

I feel dizzy and a little sick after doing cardio. Especially if I drink water right afterwards. I don't know why either. I really felt this way this morning. Does it mean we are doing too much?

Sometimes after a hard cardio session I feel really light all over and groggy, as if I've been doing Tequila shots. It usually goes away after a minute or two, so unless the feeling is dogging you for a long time, don't sweat it.

Could simply be that your body is out of "fuel." I eat a 350-calorie meal an hour before cardio to give me something to go on. If you are not taking in enough calories in the hours before your workout, that could be worth looking at, Amy.

Klinger, thanks for your reply!
I didn't even think of that, yesterday I just shoved a piece of fruit down my throat before going down there, maybe wasn't enough...you eat protein, carbs, or both before your cardio?

I have to eat on the train coming home from work (45-mimnute commute) so I usually keep it simple: A Clif bar and whole fruit, usually an apple, banana or fresh berries. Any supplement bar that packs carbs and protein but isn't too high in sugars is a good choice.

I'd agree with previous posters could be lack of fuel or pushing yourself too hard. Just be careful I've seen two people leave spinning classes because they pushed themselves too hard! They got really dizzy, and nauseas. It actually took them about a 1/2 hour to recover. I've felt the same way after a good spinning class, but only for a few minutes. I say listen to your body, push it as far as you think it'll let you!

It may very well be diet or hydration oriented.

Although, sometimes people just have issues with treadmills or elliptical machines. Feel great while going but once they stop and get off the body has to adapt and adjust. Could just be a balance issue.

Just my 2 cents...

Dizzy after running.

Thanks to everyone for their responses. I was begining to think there is something seriously wrong with me.

Today I did the hardest cardio session to date. I beat my personal best, and managed to burn off 204 calarories in 30 minutes on the bike. But when I finished I felt so dizzy.. I went to the bathroom to freshen up and noticed I was really white in the face..

After reading,, it looks like i was not geting enough blood to my head... as ilike the rest of the posts given about 10 minutes of rest I was ok. I did not eat prior to exercising.. thinking this will burn more fat.. but this is bad bad bad... after 8 hours in slumber mode.. my body needs food... no more training on an empty stomach.

I have also overtrained.. as well.. every day intense cardio nil rest days for 2 weeks straight... not doing that again...

Thanks everyone for your posts.

Find out exactly how much water you need in a day on average and dont exceed it, Drinking to much water over fills the body cells to hydrated state and this can be like being drunk
And we all get dizzy when drunk lol.
Just another path to follow to sort prob
