Question

Flat Feet Anyone??

When I was in high school, I was in track and played soccer. My first two years in college I kept up my regular work outs and played intramural soccer. I was in pretty good shape. I kinda left that my last three years in college, and now I am seriously getting back into my fitness level.

My feet are completely flat, I mean no arch whatsoever. That never used to be an issue back then, but now I find myself getting injured easily and often. The parts that usually suffer are my ankles and sometimes my knees get a little tender. I suspect that my flat feet are causing these injuries. Anyone else have this problem?

Does anyone have any warm-up or stretch suggestions to help minimize injury?

Flat feet

heres the link that i found... hope this one helps : and welcome to the site... babe

What trouble do flat feet cause?

Usually none! Some people with flat feet get aching in the arch, around the ankle or down the outer side of the foot, but all these can occur in people with "normal" arches too. People with very over-pronated feet tend to wear shoes out very quickly.

When should I consult professional help?

Most flat feet cause no trouble and do not need treatment. You may consider consulting your GP or chiropodist if:
your feet cause you a lot of pain that is not helped by wearing well-fitted shoes
your shoes wear out very quickly
your foot or feet seem to be getting flatter
your feet seem very stiff
you cannot feel your feet normally, or they seem weak

What can be done about flat feet?
In most cases, no treatment is needed as the flat feet cause no trouble. Most people whose flat feet ache feel better in well-fitted shoes: sometimes an extra-broad fitting helps. If you have troublesome mobile over-pronated feet, an insole, which prevents your feet rolling over so much, can help a lot. This would normally be provided by a chiropodist.

Children who have an abnormal foot because it has not developed properly may need an operation to straighten the foot or to separate fused bones. These are rare causes of flat foot in children: most children have mobile flat feet which need no treatment, or occasionally an insole because of pain or shoe wear.

I'd attribute it more to you just getting back into it rather than your feet being flat. You aren't used to it, when I first started back up running, among other things, I had similar problems. Had to ease into it.
