forearm pain

Hi all, I have been working out for at least 4 years now. Just lately i have been starting to get into the heavier weight and getting stronger with everything that I do (thanks to a better workout partner). I have noticed that the top of my forearms are really starting to hurt weather it be chest day, arm day, shoulder day, or back day. I know you use your forearms for basically every thing you do but not they are sore after everything i do. I have to go home and ice them even when im done. It is mainly the top part of my forearms in both arms, not so much the underside muscles. Some people have told me that this could be tennis elbow but i dont know about that because it is mainly that top part of my forarms on the top of my arm and not really anything else. What can i do to help this? Am i going to have to stop working out for awhile?? I originally thought it was because my forearms are maybe weaker than the reast of my body and know it is starting to show, but that wouldnt make since because they are used the most so they shouldnt have any problem keeping up. any help would be great

thanks

I had that , I had to knock off a rest day and lightly build my forearms, after about 5 weeks I was beginning to find that I could support the heavier weight without getting sore, but I have to start all over again now as I have ended physio for my arm and wrist. I will do 25 reps of barbell wrist curls, sitting down curls, and behind back wrist curls, for about 6 weeks gradually building up , since I did it before I know I will build the stength back, but not to the extent of what it was before

I think most of this comes from trying to twist the barbell while doing curls for example. Anyway, there's like a million deep muscles in there that do 50 things. Under my ulna is always what hurts me.

Anyway, some dumbell work for a while usually fixes it. Though it's gradual, and goes away over 6 weeks or more. Then I go hurt it again. Later, rinse, repeat.

you 'might' be gripping the bar too tightly. Its very easy to do unintentionaly and also can cause pain in the forearms.
it used to affect me especially when training Bis'. maybe worth checking out. I was totally unaware of the almost white knucke barbell curls I was doing. Now I practically cradle the bar on the negative part of reps and no more pain!!

Hey K-Dubb

Whats up K-Dubb,
Yeah my fore arms always hurt when I attack the heavier weights. I read a couple other replies and I pretty much agree with them all. Its because of the heavier weight and if you don't work out or forearms or wrists ever the pain will usually pop up from time to time, depending on poundage of your work outs. I just went through what your going through now. It ****ing sucks. I had to take a whole week off and recuperate. I'm fine now but every once in a while I get a little twitch or tingle of pain. I started working out my forearms everytime I work Bi's. This helps build them up and strengthen them so they'll be able to support heavier weights. Try to incorporate some forearm works out in your routine from now on. Its WILL help.
