Gave yoga a shot...

...and dayum, some nice lookin' women in yoga classes! lol, the teacher had a very nice body, and her suit was a little too tight, especially in the (*cough*)pelvic area...

I went to an ashtunga yoga class yesterday since a girl I've been dating invited me. While the strength portion of the exercises wasn't that challenging, the stretching portions were excruciating! I sweated like a pig...!

any of you "manly" dudes supplement your workout routines with yoga exercises?

Yoga is probably the best workout there is! I took yoga for about 4 months and it's the best workout I've ever had. I come out of the gym feeling a little drained but I'd come out of yoga feeling totally ****ed! Seriously my legs felt like jelly, I absolutely maxed out on some of the positions.

Any man who thinks he's too tough to do yoga is in reality a pussy. Yoga is hardcore and every athlete should do it!

I've been doing pilates lately and I'm loving it. There is only 1 other guy in the class. The class is free with the gym membership, but all these other guys laugh like it's just for women. I am getting a great workout in there. Lots of stretching and ab/back work. My abs and back are much stronger than they used to be. I've also greatly improved flexability. I have found muscle imbalances between my right and left leg, and things like that. The teacher throws in some yoga stuff, because she is also a yoga instructor. If you get the chance to do yoga or pilates, give it a shot.

It took me forever to realize that pilates were pronounced puh-lot-ees... I was trying to figure out why the hell you were talking about doing people that fly planes...

Yoga is excellent and is perfect for people who are building muscles too as you can lose a certain amount of flexibility without.

It's not supposed to hurt or be excruciating though.. What's supposed to happen is that feeling you get when you try to touch your toes (or further) and it's not sore, but your muscles kinda tremble... Thats what I do and I've gotten great results from it.

I stopped a while back though because I injured my knee and couldn't do what I used to be able to do.. I should have actually kept it up because my knee would have healed quicker and I wouldn't have lost a little flexibility in that knee.

Recommended for all.. but if you're male, bear in mind you will more than likely be in the minority in the class. Also.. don't compare your flexibility level with the women in the class (or anyone for that matter). Women are generally more flexible anyway, and the gains you get are on a personal level. Do NOT force results, because yoga doesn't work well like that and you'll end up with an injury or strain.

There was an old fighting computer game called STREET FIGHTER II where this guy from india called Dhalsim stretched so much from doing yoga (yes it's written in the story) that his foot went the other side of the screen when he kicked. And when he got knocked out his body scrumpled up in very uncomfortable positions.
He could also breathe fire.

For some reason I never thought about yoga again.

Yes... I find this a bad thing...

I go to a yoga class for the fitness benefits, not for ogling girls... If that was the reason I went, I'd have given up on fitness a long time ago, because something else would get bigger instead of what I wanted..

It can be very daunting if you are the only male or one of the only males in a yoga class, so in my opinion this is a bad thing.. yes!

Just try not to look around when everyone's doing down dog. Concentration will go out the window. Lol.
